News and (many) photos of progress on the U-534 museum project (http://www.atlantik-pirat.com/U-534page2.htm)

(to see the majority of the photos, check out the 'Latest Exclusive U-534 Image Gallery' about two-thirds the way down the page)

I don't think anyone here approved of cutting up the wreck, but I have to admit it's very interesting to see the cross-sections. If only the new museum would position the sections in line...

Also, I found a video on YouTube, made by someone with their own private reconstructed U-boat radio room! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6eqcDMMH_pc) http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

Great links Viking http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

I like the conservation work they already did on U-534's hull. That was long overdue ! Rust does never cease its work and the old warship museum did nothing to protect her.

Its about time that the questions surrounding Lusitania's fate get some final answers. Looking forward for the first diving reports. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Regarding the old ww2 ammo : Have you already seen this thread ? LINK (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/857101043/m/2731063566)

Good to see you around, VG http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Watching that film of them cutting the hull of U-534 made me shudder http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/sadeyes.gif

Great links! Thanks for sharing! I agree on the Lancaster's too - That would be just superb!

No I hadn't - thanks for the link Celeon http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Out of interest, when was the last time an unexploded WW2 bomb killed or injured anyone in Germany? I ask because I know quite a few people were killed trying to defuse Allied and German bombs during the war.

I cant remember to have ever heard of a accident during defusement of a ww2 bomb.

Its certain that such things happened but the last incident must have been decades ago or i would have heard of it.

But something in that way happened in October 2006 when a construction worker was killed on the A3 Autobahn.

He operated a machine which cut the road and must have hit a buried shell or flak grenade of some sort.

His construction vehicle was totally destroyed but the explosion was too small for the usual air dropped bomb that are constantly found.

Ah yes, I think I remember you or someone else posting the story at the time. Very sad indeed http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

It's good to hear that such accidents are very rare, considering the large number of munitions that are found very year.
