Well, the Zero, Ki-84, P-38L, and P-51 will all be coming to IL2:FB soon. so maybe those will diet your pacific.

It even looks like we will get some pacific island maps, too.

I enjoyed it and it was this that got me hooked on flight combat sims. Mind you, since I played IL2 for the 1st time, I have never gone back.

It's only funny til someone loses an eye....then it's hilarious

It's a good game. Make sure you get replacement FM from the 1% team to replace the stock ones.

The latest 1% planes are not only more accurate flight models than stock, but they're not affected by the 'roll-bug'. This is a serious bug in the game's software which affects the plane's handling once hit by bullets or flack. There is a roll-bug aftermarket fix but at this point it may be very difficult to find.

I played it when it came out for about 18 months. It was one of the best investments in a game I've made, but like other's have said here, it doesn't seriously compare in quality to FB.

A few small screenies.

There are hundreds of add-ons available - planes from the Wright Flyer to Eurofighter Typhoon, engine sounds, terrain, 'improved' flight models etc. But no replay feature that I've found. Worth it for a change if you spot it on offer, but as others have posted, no comparison with Il2/FB. I must give it credit for being the sim that finally pushed me over the edge, but gameplay and graphics-wise FB wins easily.

I would say its worth it definatly, theres 10,000+ addons for the game just about any plane ever invented and some of the custom scenery and airstrips are great by maskrider

Its fun lots of addons around as Leadsplitter said. Both us at Netwings and the Sim-outhouse have very active CFS2 forums. Most of our new library additions are still CFS2 related.

I have CFS 2, but I can't run it anymore. Any forums ya'll can point me to, to help? Decent game, but IL2/FB is so much better. However, nothing like being shot all to hell and trying to catch that third wire. The wave off, go around, my asz! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

It was a good sim, we were there over 2 yrs, course we left it for FB due to flight models.
We were there and it does have its good points, like carrier landing and if set up properly and you can download the Brunhost program to inhance coop missions so that all see the same target being destroyed. They have the infamous alpha bombs, as their only way to bomb, which look like light beams dropping from your plane.

The absolute worst thing concerning CFS2 that you will have to deal with is cheating, that you will have to deal with gauranteed, because there it is so easily done by many many people. There, 3rd party modelers have gone wild creating lots of modified junk. Everything from planes that fly beyond Mach speeds, to planes that cannot be shot down due to high or super modding the damage files. Even in rooms that are set up by you to only allow stock aircraft you will find the cheats have found ways to get mods past the restrictions of those rooms.

If you've flown FB then going to cfs2 will definately seem like going to an arcade game.

The flight physics feel a bit different from FB,
even with the 1% planes. FB and Aces High feel
similar in that there isn't much propensity for
accelerated stalls and stalls are mild. EAW and
IL2 seem a bit more picky about stalls, FB goes
into accelerated stalls to, but the consequences
are milder than IL2.

As to which is correct, that's another matter!
Maybe one day someone will take all the details
of WW2 aircraft and book some time on a super
computer and fully model the behaviour from first
principles and we'll have a ground-up representation
of the flight dynamics which can then be aimed at
using domestic computing equipment. (Or maybe it
could be done as NACA@home like SETI@home).

Until IL-2/FB came along I swore by this game. The graphics (were) dazzling, flecks on the paint, cool weather effects and carrier operations!

Once I got IL-2/FB, like most everyone here, I never looked back.

FM in CFS2 apparently has improved thanks to the 1%ers, which would help in that area.

Really though, the only thing I miss about CFS2 IS the carrier ops. That was huge fun. It was extermely difficult to land if you had sustained a lot of damage. I ditched many, many times by the carrier rather than die in a flaming ball of fire on the deck.

Overall, the best of the CFS series, especially if you d/l the mods.

(IMHO)

Really alot of fun (at the time), but like everyone else here, since I moved to Il2/FB I haven't once played it.

Biggest reason (besides FB being so bloody good) is the amount of cheaters so you really can't play on-line.

The AI in offline make FB AI look like Adolf Galland.

Still, flying the Wildcat and everything else if fun.

Haven't tried any of the 1% addons though...

cfs22 is a really good game, not as good as sturmovik but good anyway.
The AI is pretty poor and the AA effects could be a lot better but the scenery is fantastic, all tropical islands and sandy beaches and blue water. If its going cheap you should buy it.
All in all its a pretty good package.
