Well a few days ago I posted ehre about the P47's lacking performance at 10 000 feer dispite that the official data say it's operational ceiling was 12 000 meters or so
Same for Me 262

So now my question is: As a reply on my complaints people said IL2 is mainly for below 7000 meter fights only. and the engine isn't made or the Fm's arent implimented for high altitude

Is this true? and if so why impliment the P47 heinkel and other high altitude fighters at all? if they are useless. why not spend more time making low altitude fighters?

Good question with no answer. Oleg never intended IL2 to be for high altitudes, and doesn't seem interested in fixing it.

Consider this thread hijacked! But seriously- I think Buzz is right on this one. Maybe Oleg's next sim will address high alt fm better.

And LOL@ Commie /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

High alt fm is traditionally non existent in IL-2/FB, at alt all ac will collectively go crap. Look at the ground from 10k, it looks like a volleyball while you get the impression of crusing inside the milky way....i´m really not missing high alt flying as long as we don´t have the ETO and strategic air warfare, and a proper graphics engine to render some realistic images at that height.

============================
When it comes to testing new aircraft or determining maximum performance, pilots like to talk about "pushing the envelope." They're talking about a two dimensional model: the bottom is zero altitude, the ground; the left is zero speed; the top is max altitude; and the right, maximum velocity, of course. So, the pilots are pushing that upper-right-hand corner of the envelope. What everybody tries not to dwell on is that that's where the postage gets canceled, too.
