View Full Version : Post Count Does Matter

XyZspineZyX

I've done a little experiment, by using another name. In my other name which has alot of posts. I am quoted, ragged on, agreed with, but hardly ever ignored. With this name, I might as well be talking to the wall. I get no responce, unless I actually ask a question, and even then, the answers are few.

To those who say post count means nothing. On this forum it does.

I agree. Noobs are hardly even taken seriously and most of the time they get ignored by most people. I say just remove ALL the post counts. Don't keep track of them.

Too true. I recognize the sig, but don't remember who it belonged to. Anyway. most of the club has moved to the pilots lounge and have commented on the bunch of n00b losers here so those days may be past.

I think it has more to do with getting to know someone. Someone who has had 1000+ posts on another UBI forum and comes here doesn't have much more respect than any other n00b. CrazyIvan or HeavyDelta (just examples) garner some respect because we know them. Not because of post count.

Yep, it's those who have personalities on this forum that get recognized, and bashed, and flamed (this happens to complete new-comers too though) and quoted. The only place where people don't seem to care about such things are the Paint schemes forum, you guys should come over and see what it's like, it's great.

LOL-

Interesting experiment...
Speaking of high post ppl, where's smokejaguar? haven't seen him for weeks; he was supposed to sell me some posts so I could have more authorit-eh /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

what does the number of posts have to do with anything?
RBJ has posted the same 10 posts over and over;
some like nufoerki or carguy write single word posts all day; Let's not even talk about Commie's impressive number of "IBTL" posts. Who cares? I guess some do-

maybe ppl tend to ignore low-post-count posts because they just figure it's going to be another "why does my engine die when I push forward in the i-16?" post. I dunno.

<rambles on until dark>

Yeah that might be true with noobs, but what else would they go by? Eventually they find out who to listen to on their own. I wont ever change my user here simply because I am who I am, regardless of post count. Changing it would be saying I care about post count and I don't. Just me 2c.

Actually I don't think Smoke has that high of a post count (1000-2000 maybe, which for being here since the beginning it really isn't that much). He carries the V.I.P. stature because he used to be a mod.

Post count does matter to an extent but it isn't because of the little counter at the top. It is simply a matter of getting to know someone. The guys who post here alot (like me) become well known because we always have something to say. People who are well known usually end up being listened to, even if not all agree with them. When I go to the LO-MAC forums I am an unknown and nobody listens. But that is because few people there know me. The other side of it is people with a high post count of crap, don't get listened to either. RBJ and BaldieJr are people which I ignore almost entirely. They never have any good questions, comments or answers and so I don't pay any attention to them. Being a newbie doesn't mean none will listen, but you will not be taken very seriously except if you have a question.

At the start of WW2 the German army lacked experienced anti-aircraft gunners. The average gunner was so bad that the USSR decided to help them out. They did it by forcing some of their pilots to fly I-153 flak magnets. These planes were slow but very sturdy. This allowed German anti-aircraft gunners to get a large amount of target practice on a relatively small number of planes. Thanks to the Soviets help, by the end of the war the German anti-aircraft gunners were amoung the best in the world.</center>

I always treat people according to the thing they post, not to their postcount.

If a newbee comes in here and starts to go whining about German gunsights, because he can't aim with it, because it is not in the centre, YES then I can be a little aggresive in my response. Postcount or not... pointless whining is not what I like from ppl.

Anyways, if the newbee starts asking questions on how to fly and fight succesful, I help him or if he is giving this forum some nice backgroud info on planes/aces or some good information, I always thank him for that.

I think that everyone I've seen in this thread has a post-count of over a thousand. I've gotta say that having a high post count does't count as much as having a visible presence. Some of you, I don't really recognise inspite of your high post-count. For example, when I see a certain thread title, I can sorta guess wether the thread is interesting or not, and if it is, I can more or less expect to see some of you post there. That's a visible presence. But I agree, newbies get a lot more attention and respect in thepaint schemes forum.

Did he say anything relevant at all with his high post count or was it all flames and other crap trying to get an easy rank of nothing more than Rant. Not saying you high posters are bad by no means but their are a few semi rotten eggs here, and some Noobs that are hammering the joint thinking rank is what they need. I think Rank should some how be based on time since registration, and it should also last time signed in aswell. So you can see how current the poster is.

Well off to work M8's

Post count is indicative of people who don't have a "life"...personally I watch my time on forums, limiting it to 30 minutes a day, split between the UBI forums and a conservative political discussion forum.

A couple of years ago I spent most of my day on forums, as I was an admin mod for the aforementioned political forum, and found it was mostly a colossal waste of time.

Everything you need from internet forums can be accomplished in 30 minutes or less...unless you enjoy conversing with dweebs suffering from empty-scrotum syndrome! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Just thought I post a comment to get my count up.

As a newbie, the count doesn't bother me. Some of you seem fairly normal even if you have posted a lot, but on the other hand there's always some that seem to have a need to get out into the real world occasionally (trying not to mention the guy who claims to have made x kills in the 6 years of flying sims)

Been posting here since the forum started...and a LOT of my post count is derived from my time here cleaning up the forums.

I'm quite pleased with the result, now I'm happy with just dropping by every now and again. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Please give names even though we all know who it is/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif . As for having no life, some people don't. I post here alot and spend 4+ hours a day playing games. But I am not a virtual person. I go out with friends, see movies, target shoot, hunt, fish and go to college full time. I suspect many of the other regular posters are the same way. We make time for all these activities by sleeping only 4 hours a night.

Yeah that about sums you up. Always with the stick in your shady spot. When your 50 you'll try to act "your age". Poor sad soul. Pssst, there's nothing wrong with living life. *Begin heavy sarcasm* WOW, you have a girlfriend, friends and are a member of a frat. I wish all of us could have those things. I mean, damn that is so awsome. You must be some sort of god if you're that popular.*end sarcasm* Get real. None of those things impresses me or anyone else here. I have a girlfriend, friends and I'm a member of a frat too. Big deal, who cares. Isn't it funny how some people try to make normal sh*t seem like it is something only they can achieve. Grow up.

Wow dude. Chill the F*** out. Who crawled up your *** and died??

My point is - so what if I have a post count above 1000? According to some it means I have "no life."

a. I'm not trying to impress you or anyone else.

b. Good for you, you have a life too.

c. Why don't you grow up instead of having a PMS fit and insulting people online?

My post count is not very good, however, I've been reading the forums for a couple of years now.

The only reason I've been able to post lately is that I've finally got some free time. Otherwise I would have posted several times a week.

I do have a few favourites, and of course I love to hate RBJ, but I don't pay too much attention to post counts, because many posts are meaningless.

Besides, I heard RBJ can now post much quicker than the rest of us using a slider, so what's the point...
