I did my movie in my time doing it... It's quite usefull while running out the sight of the guards (and to make the freerun more realistic)...

Ezio, once again, sucks!

Although i didn't use this move much in AC:1, it seems hella' strange to just remove it in the sequels.
What's up with that Ubi? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

I'm an avid AC fan, I have beaten all three games at least three times each and I never knew about this move. I'd like to find out how it's done as well. Also was this only available in AC1?

Same, I've never done that even by mistake.

See, that's what I figured. I would've at least done it by mistake by now but I haven't.

If you notice, when Altair gets on the crate his empty hand button says 'grasp'. I never noticed that before either.

The move was originally shown in one of the prerelease demonstration videos (E3 or otherwise) but they never explained in game how to do it.

Like most, I assume, I ended up doing it on accident while trying to drop down.

Basically just hold free run, high profile, and grab while approaching crates or beams (it's only possible to drop down that way from beams depending their height).

And yeah, they took it out of AC2/B for some reason http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

But what reason might that be?
They basically just imported all the other moves From AC:1, why leave this one out in the cold?

I saw it in a video quite a while ago and know how to do it. It's rarely useful, though, which likely explains why it has been removed from subsequent games.

I get the feeling they didn't even intend to have it in AC1. It probably just slipped through the cracks. I assume this because whenever I tried to do it jumping to a beam that was a fair distance away and on a lower level Altair would glitch over to it. He kind of just flies awkwardly through the air at an unrealistic speed.

Here is a video of it that shows what I mean.

Just skip to 3:10

Since the code wasn't perfected, and it wasn't in any tutorials, I'd say they didn't intend for it to be part of the final product. Also, like BK-110 said, it isn't that useful. It just kind of looks cool.

To me the fact that it is not in AC2 nor ACB indicates either it was redundant in the developer's eyes, or that it slipped through the cracks, thus making an appearance in AC1, but was never programmed into the new engine for AC2.

I think you made a url error http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif That link just takes you to the top of the thread.

Sorry about that; it's fixed now.

Holy Crap! After having watched that tiny section I realised, that move is exactly what I've been looking for in AC. If you are standing on a thin ledge or beam, there is no quick way to get down other than jumping on a civi or assassinating someone. If you stand on a beam and hold R1 and forward (the usual way of dropping to the ground) nothing happens. You have to drop and grab the ledge then drop to the ground which is rediculous. A move like this is exactly what is needed except it needs to be used while standing still. An animation like this one could solve my biggest gripe with AC. I wish I had a way of caturing video so I could just show you all what I mean.

It also goes along with the fact that you can't just walk off a high building, which ticks me off to no end (http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-mad.gif - stink eye to Ubi) In MP you can walk off any building you desire but in SP it stops you and you grab the ledge.

If I could pick one thing to be fixed for the next AC it would be these things I just mentioned as they make me rage more than MP counter smoke and even m203's at the beginning of hardcore s&d matches.

Removed from AC2 and AC:B because of Ezio's tendency to tackle people or jump onto them from a great height with the same basic key combos, I imagine.

Still a cool move in AC1. Rarely useful, but adds a nice flow to the freerunning.

This move should replace the tackling from hights thing in the manner I mentioned above. The tackling from hights thing actualy ****es me off quite a bit and it's completely unecessary. Everybody Ezio ever has to tackle runs away and goes immediately to the roofs anyway.

That makes me wonder why ubi didn't improve this move why just take it off completely?

will we see Altair do it in revelations?

Omg wtf? I've done this in AC2, but not in Ac1...the animation is preset in it atleast..when you get out of a well.. by jumping in the opp. direction

You know, for some reason, I feel like AC1 had prettier visuals and lighting than AC2/B...

You are not the only one, there are multiple threads about that stuff http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

In AC2 and ACB it was in automatic manner if you want to jump from the well on the opposite direction unlike AC1
