i think it would be much better if when bailing out u stayed in first person view. it would be cool to look up and see ur canopy pop off, then after falling for a bit see the parachute open. all in first person.

useless ! what for ?

I mean, what's next ? someone requesting that he's able to shoot his sidearm when opening the canopy...

Nice to have but utterly useless...

Flanker 1.0 had it in 1995, nice idea. Why we could't have it in 2003? No biggy neverthless nice touch of realism..

This would be awesome, you bail and open the chute immediately, and start firing your sidearm at the guy who shot you down!!

Actually, if any of you played EAW European Air War, this is exactly what you could do. And the specs of that was around a Pent 233- 400 mhz! You never saw the cockpit fly away, but you saw yourself jump on the wing then fall out and roll over and over (the sky and land tumbling)! If you didn`t fall right or hit a part of the plane you might become too injured to open the chute or it became tangled. Then it was a long way down...

It was (in my opinion) more immersive because it felt like it was really yourself jumping.

Another point too is it would save a little on processing power, because the 3D model would not need to be drawn.

So NOT a ridiculous idea after all.

Go to BF 1942 you can fly jump out shoot folks on the ground run around etc etc etc. This is a flight sim so most folks want things for the planes or when your in it. Who cares once you have to bail from your bird.

May you not become a dirt torpedo.

I think this is a neat idea and I've actually posted something quite similar on another board elsewhere sometime ago..."I don't know if this is possible but what I would like to see/have is the ability to see through the pilot's own eyes after he's bailed out and he's dangling from beneath his chute. With the game currently the way it is, once you've bailed you can only view everything going on around you from an 'outside' view looking at your pilot. It would be great to be able to view the battle still going on all around you and with enemy fighters boring in on you as you are floating down to terrafirma". /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

I would really like this feature, especially if you were gonna bail from a FW with a wing ripped and you were hit a "home run" with the other spinning wing /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Actually the bail out and fight on ground is an idea if you consider trying to get back to your field for the next mission. Try taxiing in TB~3 below a general air battle (bombers, escorts, interceptors) high above you. Very immersive.

But....wait till Next Sim, maybe.

First person/personette view added tremendous interest in watching nearby air combat while parachuting.

Worse....DOS Flanker could do 100+ aircraft on a 133MHz Pentium before affecting framerates. We can do about 30 with 1.3 GHz Pentium before we notice the hits. Something has gone badly wrong here. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

i dont care about the first person view while bailing out thing really. i WOULD like to see it possible to be injured or even killed by your own plane while bailing out though. i dont know how many times i have jumped into the tail wing or through a burning engine.

Or actually die or be incapacitated by the wounds recieved in combat, so far I've been wounded often but never died from my wounds in the cockpit nor has my wounds affected the flight..

i,ve been killed plenty of times in the cockpit. but your right, when im wonded, it never affects flight. i guess that would be too hard to accuratly model.

If you are badly wounded, you can hardly control your plane, as if you have lost most of your strength. It has happened to me many times.

That's happened to me before. My 262 was set on fire and my controls were hit, so I was slowly climbing at about a 45 degree angle. I jump, the inertia carries my body forward, the plane stalls and hits me. Was funny.... I think a severed wing hit me once too.

I think the first-person view is a really cool idea, The straight to third-person thing is kinda irritating at times, especially if I'm crash landing and want to see what's happening from the inside of the plane. Watching dogfights while parachuting down would add to the immersion a lot IMO.

you can still watch the action around you, just not in first person. i agree that it would be cool, but i think adding the option of being hurt and/or killed by your plane should come first. it would force you to devise a strategy when bailing out. (push down on stick..ect..) which is something real ww2 pilots had to think about im sure.

useless?? it's more realistic this way. if i'm playing full real and there's no external view whatsoever, what makes you think i want an external view when i jump out? if i'm going for full real with no externals, i don't want to see an external me as if i'm looking in a mirror as i fall. what's unrealistic is to have external view parachute when the game selection says external views off.
