All i know about the patch is that its called 4.09 & that it will include slovakia & Bessarabia maps.

There is a very slight possibility of a couple of new planes being added that have been seen before, but not added to the sim, the fokker DXXI & Avia B-534.

not sure of any bug fixes, but there are bound to be some. Just keep visiting the forums often & there should be a couple of news items shortly etc.

The patch will also include a nice Solomon Islands map, the F4U-1, the F4U-4, the P-61, the P-47N, the B-26 and the A-26! What? Time for my medication again? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif

I can dream, can't I? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

Since every newcomer now asks for a flyable B-17 and B-29, Oleg decided to put the SoW project on hold for another year and develop one more IL-2 add-on: "IL-2: Aleutians to Atoms." Follow the career of Sergei, the American-born son of a Russian immigrant family, as he first joins the RAF as a Spitfire pilot and later enlists in the US Army Air Force, trains to be a bomber pilot in Oklahoma, and reports for duty in as a B-17 pilot in Alaska. His adventures take him to hotspots across the globe. After briefly serving as a test pilot for radical new aircraft designs, he returns to combat as a B-29 pilot when Japan refuses to surrender following the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bomb drops.

My source says that there will be some new maps (the Solomons?), at least one flyable torpedo bomber, a famous aiarcraft carrier, and the P-55 Ascender. This was supposed to be a surprise ... sorry if I spoiled it.

Whats so wrong with the game being done? Its done. Its had waaay more patches than anyone expected and despite the fact that the game engine is now ancient in computer terms its still belting out countless multiplayer games and tournaments every day and week. Not really dead at all.

Mosquito FB.6? Boston B.3? Mitchell B.3?

OK, the Mosquito isn't a dedicated bomber, and the Boston and Mitchell were Made In Usa, but they're flyable bombers used by the RAF...

I have a very old friend who worked on the Ascender project before he enlisted Navy to fly.
I worked with him 79-83 and got him into PC's at home later on. That one got to proto and
was not faster than a P-51 could be so they ended it. Mass production and bugs worked out
takes a real difference in potential to budge. There was another twin engine like it that
would have carried a 75mm gun to be armed with proximity fuse shells that also got cut.

I've also heard rumours of some better default 109 & 190 textures in the works. Not sure if valid tho.

If you like planes like this, this is what Fokker was preparing for the Dutch airforce just before the outbreak off the war. One flying prototype, destroyd on the ground during the Geman invasion.
