Hey guys, me and few buddies want to give this IL-2 a go. We all have the 1946 sim, but were wondering how we do co-op online? I see there is a dedicated server. Is that what we need, or do we need something else?

Thanks for the help.

Rob

For Coops you only need the game itself.

The host should go 'Multiplayer, Create Server, select 'Coop' (instead of Dogfight).

Then load a Coop mission... the others can then connect and join, if you've told them your IP address, and you've setup your router for incoming traffic.

Another way is the use of Hyperlobby, but that one is more 'open' and the moment you announce the coop there, others can join.

See here: A Nugget's Guide To Getting Off The Ground.. (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/23110283/m/9121094645), it has a section on online play, and Hyperlobby.

Good Luck, Have Fun!

Why not try the Saturday Ubizoo thing and if you like it join a sqad http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Hey guys, thanks for the quick response. I think we will definitely think about joining a squadron once we get our feet wet a bit. The reason I asked about the dedicated server option is we have a remote dedicated server we use for all our games/sims, and the speed is much better than what I have here at home. If we ran the dedicated server, would we be able to play coop, fly missions together, etc.?

Now that looks like fun. I got 2 buddies, and we have 0 hours in IL-2, but we have hundreds of hours in Falcon, so we aren't totally clueless. :-) You guys flying tomorrow?

Yes, we will be flying tomorrow Saturday. Do any of you have headsets and Teamspeak 2 or 3 installed? Not mandatory but it would help you to know what is going on.

Yep, we all have headsets and use TS. I actually host a TS server that we use, and we are all on TS3. What version are you guys running. Just installed 4.09m.

We have started using the UP2.n mods but if the three of you show up tomorrow, I could run a clean 4.09m.

That is awesome. Thanks. I'll make sure we all get 4.09m installed. What else should we do for tomorrow, and how many people usually join this Saturday UbiZoo? Also, I assume IP's are listed on your site? Anything else I need to know?

Usually we get about a dozen pilots but it has been as high as 20. The IP's are in the thread I referred you to as are the times we fly.

We usually start on a dogfight map just to warm up and then switch to coops when everyone is settled. If you try to join when a coop is in progress, you will not be able to connect until the coop is over. Each coop takes about 30 minutes from start to finish.

See you there tomorrow.

That sounds great. I'll be there tomorrow. BTW, not sure how many of us will join. Might be just me, based on a conversation I just had a few minutes ago! I think I need to be the guinea pig on this, and then recruit them. If I am the only one showing up, should I get the UP2.n mods? Not sure where those are at. I'll check the forum.

Wow...I didnt know someone hosted coops.

I am new to IL2 as well, and would love to check these out. Anyone welcome?

Of course you are welcome! It is very easy going with lots of funny banter. If you have trouble taking off, I can switch to air starts. The object of Ubi Zoo Coops is to meet your fellow il2 mates and to have fun.

Yes!

As BG stated, try and get TeamSpeak 3, much more fun that way.

Info on how and when to connect to are all in the link BG posted.

Edit: Oops... BG ya beat me to it...
Oh well, I can leave this here, no harm done ...

The Danger Dogz have their own TS server Dan and hosting is done by various people including me. We fly Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday; all at the same time as Ubi Zoo Coops ie. 7:30pm GMT. If you want to fly with us I could pm you TS3 details.
