Sometimes I wonder why bother with a company that treats us Americans as an afterthought. It really ticks me off to be last in line for product distribution Every Time. I think it must have something to do with bad relations between Russia and the US, but just how in the heck are us gamers to blame for all this? We pay good money just like everyone else to support the love of this simulation, so I will just wait until the Boxed version comes to my local Wal-Mart store. (Which they have No Idea when they will have the title. (gasp!).

You should be able to order 1946 from GoGamer if you live in the US. The wifey got mine there for xmas.

I would imagine it'll be in the stores (Best Buy, Target, Circuit City, etc.) in the near future.

S~ lateral-g, and thanks for the info. I am sort of old fashioned about purchasing products, and will keep my eye on Circuit City http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I'm waiting for a US release also. I can't justify the price from gogamer.

GoGamer wants $50 and it is an import.
How much to ship direct from Britain?

OTOH there is one thread on GD says a WalMart in Canada has it right there.

It might have something to do with marketers, greedy aircraft corporations and lawyers.
Maybe.

I just picked up Il-2 1946 (last copy) from a EB Games store in Delta, British Columbia, Canada last night for $ 44.99 CDN (about $ 39 USD). The store manager told me it was a brand new release and they had just received their first shipment of it on Jan 23rd.

Says UBI.com/ca on the back of the box and its in both of our official languages (English & French), game and packaging, so I assume its a Canadian specific release. Just the one game DVD inside (ie. no bonus DVD) and absolutely no booklet nor documentation. Plain DVD box with color insert, but no nice color cardboard sleeve like Pacific Figthers.

It says in the general discussion that another guy picked one up at EB Games also (where there were several available), this time in Victoria, BC.

In addition, it apparently was sighted and purchased at a few Walmart stores on Vancouver Island for $ 37.99 CDN (about $ 33 USD), although I have first searched at Vancouver (city) area Walmarts without success when I first heard of that and before I found the 1 copy at EB Games.

I do not know why its not in the US since it look like it may be a general release here in Canada (EB Games, Walmart...), although like I said, it appears that its a Canadian-market specific version because of the bilingual cover and the fact that both english and french version of the game are on the DVD.

Jagd

I don't think it's EVER going to be released in U.S. stores.

If you want the game I'd pony up to GoGamer.com. They're reliable, and quick.

The reason they have to charge is because they have to purchase the game to make it available to us. (least that's how I understood it when Jason told us of the price hike.)

Got mine from them @ $39.00 when it was first advertised as available to order.

Sorry, I didn't clearify. I was asking about the count of 1946 games sold worldwide. But now that you mention it, whats with Olegs/Ubi's attitude towards the US market? I'm wondering if the number of games sold worldwide tells the tale.

I really got no idea how much copy's will be sold.
My game magazine & pilot&planes magazine both gave attention towards IL2-1946 maybe that helps because they where both very positive.
High Quality & Lots of Planes to fly !
For me it's the same game I play from day one with the sequels and addons all in one and a nice extra dvd with it !
But to support the team and all there effort for our joy of flying the IL2 series I bought me a copy to keep them going.
I hope every one of the community does that !
We are self responsable for keeping our favorite games being develloped.
I'm waiting desperately for the release of "Storm Of War" B.O.B. ,that's for sure !!!
Think it's gonna be great too !

Cheers, Wijndel ( Wine'69 , the Netherlands )

It has nothing to do with Oleg. North American distribution, or lack of same, is solely in the hands of UBI.

My bet why the US was skipped is because it is part of the heinous "settlement" with that large defense contractor.

Just my opinion.

Tobacco Reference? WTF is that all about. Is that required to be stated on the package? Planes flying around blowing each other out of the sky with guns and cannons and that makes it on the label. God help us.
