I need introduction to ops dates for the following:

Spitfire MkIXc +25lb

Mustang MkIII

Bf-109K4 C3

FW-190A5 1.65Ata

No flame fests please - not trying to argue about this. If you have a source then post it and say if you think its reliable. I'l then make up my mind a sto when I introduce them;

Spitfire MKIX squadrons no1 and no 165 first upgraded to +25 lb BOOST may 7th and may 4th respectively.
These squadrons conducted sweeps for JU88s amongst other things.... persumably anti-diver work also.

That is all you want really, anothr pathetic argument on service dates and (no doubt) fuel types and consumption.

If you go and use the search function, or just look in the page before this one for **** sake, you will find a thread on this exact topic.

There was K-4s using straight C3 but did you mean C3+MW50 1.98ata K-4s? K-4s appeared in LW OoB in late Oct 44. C3+MW50 1.98ata K-4s were cleared in mid March 45 with the only unit completely equiped being I./JG27.

P-47D (late)- Or P-47M in Jan 45 but not till late Mar early Apr 45 really.

As for the Fw190A5@1.65ata, this boost level with the C3-Einspritzung system was cleared for use for Fw190A Jabo units in September 1943.

The first 109Ks entered production August 1944, the first examples being delivered to units in mid-October which was spent with familiarisation. First combat on 2nd November 1944. By the end of the month apprx. 200 were in service, rising to 314 by 31st January 1945, apprx. 1/4th of the total 109s in firstline service. 856 were produced by the end of 1944, and apprx. 1700 by the end of the war. Its brother-in-law, the G-10 has a similair story, with some 2600 produced by the end of the war.


The initial 109Ks (and G-10s) were equipped with DB 605DM engine at lower boost (1,75ata, 1800PS, which is what we have as 1944 one in the game, appearantly). This engine was replaced by the improved 605DB/DC engines at around December/January. The two were easily converted to each other, ie. DB into DC and DC into a DB, the 605DB being roughly similiar to the DM in performance.

The DC was designed to run on higher boost with 96 octane 'C-3' (very similiar to the 150 grade of the Allied) fuel and MW50 water injection, at 1.98ata boost and 2000 PS output. From the available documentation it appears that Daimler's own home tests were fine, but troubles at the boost were reported by Rechlin Test Centre's own endurance runs In January, and the introduction was delayed and more testing was done. It should be noted that not only 109Ks but also the 109G-10 had this engine as well.

Operational testing of the boost was done by the II Gruppe of JG 11 during February-March, equipped with G-10s and K-4s.

The next surviving documentation is orders from OKL from mid-March 1945, which cleared the 1.98ata boost for four Wing-sized units for operation, these operated G-10 and K-4 alike. These were two Gruppen from each JG 27 and JG 53, I/JG 27, III/JG 27, III and IV/JG 53. These four units had a total of 142 fighters on hand, out of which 79 were servicable on 9th April 1945. The mentioned units were primarly employed on the West, but by this date, they also encountered the Soviet Air Force.

The same order notes that the C-3 fuel required for 1.98ata operation is supplied to the previous operational test Wing II/JG 11, and another Gruppe from another Jagdgeschwader, which points to the possible use of high boost in these units as well, both operating under Luftflotte 6 on the Eastern Front.
