How exactly do I go about finding one of these aeroplane simulators to fly?

Last plane I flew was this World War I Bi-Plane responsible for bombing & shooting targets on the Western Front.

Up & Down, Up & Down, tat tat tat, drop a bomb, tat tat tat, shoot down an enemy Bi-Plane.

BORING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you want to have a more advanced simulation with more avionics and different weapons, a WW2-simulation is not the best choice.

I recommend Falcon4:AF or LockOn.

Maybe you should also check out this:

http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/

The most complex, detailed and realistic simulator, available soon. (Hopefully)

Naw, Modern Day Stuff is Boring.

Give Me a World War II Fighter (or) Bomber Any Day.

I don't suppose their is a Gloster Gladiator Simulator laying around somewhere is there?

Going up against a couple of Japanese Zeros perhaps?

No, this site doesn't have anything to do with a flight simulator. Have you tried Microsoft as I'm sure they sell a game to do with World War II?

Ok, I'm confused. Why does everybody push me towards trying out a "sim" if there isn't a "sim" for me to try out?

I was under the impression that IL-2 Sturmovik was a Simulator.

It is a simulation, but you cannot try it out, there is no demo, you have to buy it.

Preferably the 1946 edition:

http://www.amazon.com/UBI-Soft-68361-IL-2-Sturmovik/dp/...id=1207570855&sr=8-1 (http://www.amazon.com/UBI-Soft-68361-IL-2-Sturmovik/dp/B000N4JENW/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1207570855&sr=8-1)

You can also buy it online as a downlaod via UBI.com or steam I think.

Odin_1964, that sim is still readily available in my local branches of EB Games, so it should be still available in your neck of the woods too. However, if you've not had much experience with combat flight sims be prepared for something that's reasonably realistic and 'full on' (though you do have adjustable settings).

IMHO, IL-2 FB/AEP/PF/1946 is still the best WW2 combat flight sim around, but shortly about to be eclipsed by the new Battle of Britain sim from the same producers (is that right lads? I haven't been on this forum for a long time. How is progress with Battle of Britain going?)

Within the entire IL2:1946 air combat simulation, there IS a Gloster Gladiator (labeled in-game as the J8A) and it is one of the most handsome cockpits in this sim. It was made by some of the excellent modelers in the f19 squad (see here: http://f19vs.se/news.php )

As has already been stated though, you can't "try it out" without purchasing the sim. Get it and you won't be sorry as the Gladiator is only one of the many (over 100+) flyables in it.

I can certainly understand shortage of funds, but if there's a Circuit City anywhere around you, you can probably find it there too. It's usually labeled at $29.99 but rings up at the register for $15.00...you can't beat that with a stick anywhere.

The sim is relatively inexpensive now. It's not like you have to pay 'new release' prices or anything like it. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Go buy the game, it`s damn cheap- or find the old Demo. You must be barely able to feed yourself if you can`t afford it. No one`s going to `lend` you a copy since nobody really knows you and the `trustworthy regular forum goer` ticket hasn`t beem earned yet.

People here are weird. Ignore them http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

There is also a long standing debate on the meaning of simulator versus just being a "game". The demo is worth trying out but allot has changed and hundreds more planes were added. This is the best WWII air combat game/simulator there is...hands down. Well worth the $10-$20 to purchase it. A joystick is also essentially a requirement...keyboard can be done but it makes things very imprecise.

Only get the IL-2 1946 package. This contains all content from all previous releases plus it contains new content. Anything else and you're cut off from 99% of the online community.

I'll give this a shot for now & see what I think about it.

As for my being a joke, well, being told about the place, I took a chance in coming here, not knowing what to expect, and thus far with the exception of one person, everyone has been pretty nice to me.

THAT tells me a lot about this place.

As far as my finances go, well, the Cable TV has been shut off & I am just biding my time right now with the internet thing, as that is sure to be next to go, and I'm quite surpirsed Verizon hasn't already shut me down.

$15.00 is cheap, but then I would have to buy a Joystick too & when it comes to having to choose between luxuries such as games & joysticks & putting a roof over my head, well, I don't think I need to finish what I was going to say.

And before anybody says anything about me being able to afford to take the pictures I have been showing, well My Pops gave me his extra Digital Camera and the card reader to boot.

Well bro I am sorry to say but if you are having your TV shut off, your internet shut off, and possibly more. Then you should be worrying much more about a job and bills than worrying about a forum and a game.

15 bucks in food is just a box of chicken. So my honestly heartfelt idea for you is to get a job. I mean TV is like what 20 bucks a month for basic cable.

Just remember how old the demo is... 2001 or was there also a later one?
It won't make you an expert flier on 1946 because the FM is not as refined.
You will get a taste of what people flying RB3D, EAW and CFS2 found in 2001.
I remember that demo beat the socks off those even with only 4 flyables and solid MP.
Check the FM version of the demo, we are at 4.08 now.

Hey, it's still fun if what you got isn't so good.

You can check out youtube. There is a ton of user made movies. But as far as watching a live game, naww can't be done.

Save up a little cash, get the game and a decent stick. The Satek Av8er is like $40 and has everything on the stick you will need to get you flying. Twist rudder, throttle control and multiple buttons.

The ultimate in air supremacy is a tank on the runway.

I've been meaning to ask, what exactly does that mean?

I mean, a Tank on a Runway would impede the free flow of aircraft needing to use it, wouldn't it?

Or is that the whole point in itself?

It's true that I was kinda invited to this place by another member of this Interesting Place, who shall remain nameless for now, unless he wants to identify himself on his own of course, and I knew NOTHING about the functions of this place.

In Truth?

I was looking for a good place to present the Pictures of the Planes that I had taken recently & now that I have done that & I have tried to get acquainted with my surroundings, I seem to have offended you in some way or manner.

That was never my intention to do such a thing towards you or anyone else for that matter.

Where I go from here, depends entirely upon the winds themselves.

Well I have personally been in financial straits and whole heartedly understand when $15 is allot of money. You have shown yourself to be a gentleman in the face of a few critizing post here and as a moderator of these here forums I do appreciate it. On the other hand I can see where these other m8s were coming from in not taking you seriously to start with. So be that as it may......

I will be glad to send you a copy of the game that UbiSoft sent me for being a moderator and dealing with this bunch of misfits for the last three years, http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif Just kidding m8s, hehe.

I will also look and see if I can find the Saitek joystick I started with long ago. There's no rudder control on the stick so you will have to learn to manipulate the keyboard for rudder trim, but I am sure you will be able to master that. I was able to long ago.

Just send me a PM with your name and mailing address asap so I can get the game, and hopefully my old joystick in the mail and on its' way before I leave town this Friday for three weeks to spend time with my daughter and new grand child.

Oh & btw, welcome to the forums\community. Glad to have you here.

I'm sure it won't be a problem since I already type with my left hand & use my other hand to.....Uh.....you know.....eat with while I am on the computer, so I'll try and figure out how to send you a PM and get that info to you as soon as possible.

The sooner you do it, the sooner you'll be in the air...and the sooner you'll have more credibility with the nay-sayers. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Oh it didn't take me any time at all to figure out what to do.

Yeah, I figure as soon as he sends me my present, I'll be in the air hunting Mr. Hoenire first, followed by Mr. Phobia for sure.

Maybe if I'm lucky, the guy who invited me here will be my Wingman.

Odin -

Sell your TV if you have to, you won't be using it once you get this sim. Just buy it. For real. Best computer purchase you'll ever make. I've bought it 5 times now (various versions etc) and it was worth it everytime.

Welcome, in advance. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif ~S~

got a job bro, just having money problems this month is all, nothing more, I will bounce back in the next month or so.

There are a lot of US citizens who are thinking this at the moment and who are in for a very rude shock. I truly hope you are not one of them. Things are not going to suddenly get better for the US, or the world, economy. It has to get worse, a lot worse, before it gets better, I'm afraid.

Where I buy fuel here in Texas, I am now paying $3.29-9/10th's Per Gallon.

There are 5 Litre's Per Gallon, so you do the math for Merry Olde England as well.

To US, we are being gouged. In parts of California they are now paying over $4.00 Per Gallon.

Recently, within the last year, The Iraqi People protested their price of fuel being raised .20 cents from .38 Cents a Gallon to .58 Cents a Gallon.

Now you tell me, when was the last time we even saw .58 Cent a Gallon Gasoline?

I remember back in 1995 when it was .72 Cents Per Gallon, but that's the best I can remember.

When I started driving back in '78, gas was about .65/gal and within a year it had gone up to .80/gal. I'm afraid I don't remember .72/gal in '95.

Yeah, but we make more than $11 a day. Not saying I don't want to see <$1.00/gal gas prices again, but I'd rather pay $4.00/gal for my gasoline than live ANYWHERE else where the prices are cheaper.
