Now that my mother has died i had to go through millions of family documents.

And look what ive found :

Thats the copy of the birth certificate of CeleonÔ┬┤s grandmother fatherÔ┬┤s side.

She died when i was still very young so i never really knew her.

She was born on April 21, 1911 in Ziegelwiese which my father told me is in the near of K├┬Âslin/Koszalin in West Pomerania.

Looks like it took them 2 days to travel to the city (Breitenthal no idea what its polish name is) and let her birth registered. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I wonder whats the polish name of Ziegelwiese today or if it still exists at all ? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

Also notice that the document is written in polish and german.

Look at this classic beautiful handwriting. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Father : The worker Gerd M├╝ller

A girl born around 6Ô┬┤o clock at home by his wife Martha M├╝ller

Religion : Protestantic

Given name : Ida Paulina

Can you translate me the polish text down on the sheet and those stamps ?

Hello Celeon,

Sorry I didn't reply earlier I was at business trip to Finland for some days.

not so much translation :

Republic of Poland
Pomeranian Province

on stamps
Registry Office Gutowo
Torun administrative unit

Document of birth No 27

bottom
Above mentioned information are confirmed according to main book of births registry office in Smalno (district Gutowo)

civil servant of registry office

Note before WWII Polish Pomeranian Province was between Gdynia and Torun/Bydgoszcz

What date is in the bottom ? (Polish eagles on stamps are with crown so from 1918-39)

I feel somewhere around is missing place on the map :

I am wondering about that myself. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

Looks like 20.6 but my grandmother was born on 21.4 http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif The year is simply unreadable but it must be 1911.

I don't believe - 1911 - document is in Polish partly http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif
I think it must be 1931 or 1937 - and somebody from Your family travelled that time to Poland to receive document of birth !

Yes, youre right.

Didnt thought about that.

This explains it all. Maybe she needed it for marriage or something.
