Hmm... so much to choose from, regardless of time period. You can write few that you like the most, or at least first good ones that you remember.

Presidents Of The USA - Peaches
Radiohead - Video Killed the Radio Star
Stevie Ray Vaughan - House Is Rockin'
Stiltskin - Inside
etc. etc. sub genre is not important.

Recently I'm compiling some stuff so your reccomendations may come handy. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
Thanks.

Probably:

County Fair by Joe Walsh.

Or:

More Than a Feeling by Boston

for sheer nostalgic value.

Hey Luke (just obeying yer avatar blurb) where you even born when "More than a Feeling" came out, sonny? I think it was a hit around 76-77 when I wuz 10 years old. He he, then again it's wierd I felt really nostalgic when I heard a pianoroll recording of Scott Joplin's "Cascade" (1890s or something). Maybe reincarnation is real? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

Anyway, I like most genres of music better to say what I don't like. Most rap, Emo for example. Been rediscovering 80s and 90s music, was a big fan of Rush in the 80s and Soundgarden in the 90s. I love classical and jazz too.

Too many to pick one. Apart from the classic rock songs like Smoke on the Water and Stairway to Heaven, off the top of my head I'd probably pick the following:

He Knows, You Know - Marillion
Assassing - Marillion
Fugazi - Marillion
Lady of the Lake - Rainbow
Gates of Babylon - Rainbow
Heaven & Hell - Black Sabbath
Voodoo - Black Sabbath
Hallowed by Thy Name - Iron Maiden
Two Minutes to Midnight - Iron Maiden

Obviously I wasn't, but I've spent more than enough time around people who were http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif. Or maybe as you said, it is reincarnation.

Either way, it's some pretty damn good music.

Actually, I'd like to amend that list to the following albums: Boston, Third Stage, and Don't Look Back. All of the songs flow from one another like butter. Anyway, I'm just being biased because I'm a big fan of Boston, but those are some of the few albums I've ever listened to that were truly "all killer and no filler."

"7 and 7 is", by Arthur Lee and Love.

"My Generation", by the Who.

"Who do You Love?", by Bo Diddley.

"Foxy Lady", by the Jimi Hendrix Experience.

"Somebody to Love", by Jefferson Airplane.

"Sunshine of Your Love", by Cream.

"8 Miles High", by the Byrds.

"Come Together", by the Beatles.

"Smokestack Lightning", by the Yardbirds.

"Willie the Pimp", by Frank Zappa & the Mothers of Invention.

All things Zeppelin, Paint it Black by the Stones, any Metallica, funk 49 by james gang...

jeez I could do this for hours.

I'm curious about popular rock music (or any other genre) that's not British or American though. What's big in Russia these days?

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/agreepost.gif Very few albums which can make that claim, plus nostalgia aside, there are some bands and songs that are not too tied into a particular decade. Listen to some songs and you know they scream early 80s or late 60s. Others don't sounds as tied into trends and I appreciate that.

I love music especially hard rock with lots of passion or some anger in it. Makes the music so much more interesting!

Unforgiven II: Metallica
Alone Again: Dokken
Broken: Seether featuring Amy Lee
Mother: Pink Floyd
General Taylor: Great Big Sea

The last one is more an East coast folk song, but everytime I hear it, I have to stop and listen....
