Hi gents,

I am just getting back into this wonderfull game, but as I remember the old campaigns took ages to get into the action,

So what I am looking for are some campaigns, where I can get into some action relatively quickly,
Any ideas??

Thx

"The Dust Devils (http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads&file=details&id=3186)" by PhilK over at M4T is a really nice P-38 Africa campaign. I'd recommend anything by PhilK, he does really nice work.

You might like some of these ones, especially Afrika.

If you want quick action, the Defence of the Reich ones are definitely that - all starting in the air a few minutes away from 60-70 heavy bombers.

Hi Flatspinman,
Have just downloaded and played your first spanish mission, the campaign that starts just before the war, was thinking, it might be a good learning curve, to start there and work my way thru them:-)

Hi FSM,

Like hordes of others, I enjoy your campaigns very much. I don't know if you have done a version of your Legion Kondor using mods as there are aircraft that could be considered more historically accurate for the period.

On the other hand I suppose I could just replace some a/c using the FMB. For personal use only of course! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

FlatSpinMan's Afrika campaign is definitely pretty good. It's been a while since I played it but from what I remember it generally doesn't take too long to get into battle, the MTO map he uses is pretty small. You can always speed up the game 8x until you see the enemy.

IceFire's Stormclouds campaign set is also on a small map and is a good campaign where it doesn't take too long to get into combat. The German Fw-190D Stormclouds campaign was my favorite in it.

Thanks guys
Sillius Sodus - actually, electron over at M4T has just about finished doing exactly what you mentioned. I haven't tried it yet but I'm sure he's done a good job. Keep an eye out over there. When I hear about it being released I'll let you know.
I'm also part way through doing my own version incorporating some changes but that has taken second place to Tunisia plus another secret campaign I started work on early last year.
Jedermann lives!
How's your campaign going, anyway?

mcpolle - some of it is quite hard due to the plane used in the early missions. If you want to just have some action, try Afrika. It starts of relatively easy.
If you have any questions or problems just let me know here or PM me.

Hi FSM,

These days I'm afraid my campaign building is limited to some short coop campaigns for my squad. Good practice though. I'm really going to have to sit down one day and finish my China '37 campaign...now with the new 4.10 stuff.

I love everything by Flatspinman, currently finishing up Afrika! and from there I'm going to try DoR.
My favorite campaign thus far though has been Checkertails across the med

But Im a P-40 junkie. These are REALLY good if you run in perfect with Redko's new textures.
Also the Desert air force series seems to be pretty good. Just finished Aces of Aces. I never appreciated the Hurricane Mk1 so much as after having flown the Gladiator.

This is the link to the modded version of Legion Kondor as modified by electron. I haven't tried it myself but definitely will when the chance arises.

CWMV - that campaign looks great, I'd never seen it. As for the Ace of Aces ones, I think I've tried to play one of them but it doesn't work - something about the map if I recall correctly. I'll try again though, starting with Pt1.

I had the same problem, in fact I think I asked you about it at SAS recently http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
Its kinda laborious but delete everything under House in the .mis file and they work fine. I had to do this for Afrika! as well.

For Afrika? Really? Do you use the lovely new redko textures for a couple of the desert maps? If so, that's probably why.

C.W.M.V.

Ya I use just about everything Redko releases. Once you see redko's deserts there's no going back!
Regardless that's what worked for me with Ace of Aces.

FSM: would that mean I could put those desert skins in your campaign of Afrika???

Which ones? If you are going to update it with better, more consistent skins then that'd be good. I have an idea to something similar myself.

Well Like CWMV has talked about, those redko ones,

But I have no idea the why, or how, so anyone want to give a ny quick pointers, is it easy to do??

This have anything to do with the Tunisia WIP?

FlatSpinMan

If we're talking about skins, then yeah, I meant ones from Tunisia. Some of them would be appropriate.
If we're talking about redo's textures, then to play it could be as simple as installing his map then changing the name of the map in the .mis file of every mission to the relevant name. As he has altered the coastline there may be some problems though. In fact, I think you may need to go and re-tick the player box as the new textures seem to deselect the player's flight. I also recall something about having to delete "house" objects in the .mis file.
