Hey, does anyone have any offical word of any midnight launches going on for AC2? I didn't preorder but I'd like to get it the day/night it launches so I was just wondering if there was any news about this.

None so far.

They're not really worth going, IMO. You'll be waiting in line with a bunch of fat guys wasted and singing (at least I did once).

Really? I'm just not sure if there will still be copies around if I wait till the morning. I'll be taking class off for the day without a doubt though.

You can always preorder it. That reserves you a copy.

Nope, thats why im counting down until 10am, rather than midnight :P

I'm only 18 without a credit card so I don't think that's an option is it? I've never wanted a game bad enough to preorder or go to a midnight release before, lol. It's all new to me.

You don't need a credit card. Just lay down a $5 deposit. That's how much it was for me.

chazzbo77

Can I just go right to the store and say that I want to place a preorder?

You should also tell them what game and what platform.

yea same. Except I put down a $20 deposit, I was afraid I would waste all my money before the game came out, so I thought I've cover a little more of the price, lol.

chazzbo, just go to GameStop (or Eb Games in my case http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif) and tell them you wanna pre-order Assassins Creed 2. They should ask for some info, and then give you a receipt. You just return with the receipt (or some ID confirming you are you) and they will give you the game when it comes out.

EDIT:

Phe you can avoid the dodgy people by going to a 24 hour supermarket here, then every game has a midnight launch http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif altho the 24 hour shops tend to start selling them about 10pm the day before. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif

Oh, wow. I thought one needed a credit card to preorder. Thanks a ton guys!

e).
That never happened for Gears 2, it was a bunch of wasted college guys who were just looking at their blackberries so they knew how many more minutes...so they didn't see me slowly gaining my way to the fronthttp://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif

But to my knowledge you just go get it when the store opens regulary for this one, is MW2 having one?{dam, my computer is fritzing up the quotes again}

This is just heresy:

When I pre-ordered (pay in full so it goes faster) my copy of AC2 here in Kentucky, the manager (of gamestop) said he wouldn't doubt it if they did a midnight launch.

Then again, I don't think any of us really believe they won't.

last midnight launch I was going to go to was one for left 4 dead because the best zombie would win the game free.

but we got distracted, quite comical with two of my mates dressed as zombies and a special statue zombie that looked real with a head the went splat and me with a baseball bat near a pub at about 10pm http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

At my local gamestop, I asked two clerks and they both said that you can reserve (aka preorder) a copy with cash. Then you pick it up from there when the game launch.
Don't forget your receipt. But if you forget it then they can ask you for your "password" (which is basically your phone number).
it might be different for other gamestops but that's what the people at my gamestop told me.

the esrb rating says 17+. so that means if your under 17 you can't buy it or play it. so why would someone 16 or under use a id card to prove that they can't play it? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif
unless ur sayin that they're using a fake id to prove that their 17 or older.

They used to do that with me, but now that I'm friends with me they've been trying to trick me because I almost bought an M game by myself{OH no! lol} and now they won't let it go so they make references to it like " r U buying that game?"

For Australia, AC is rated M 15+ Restricted; Mature Audiences 15yrs and up with a risk of prosecution if you allow anyone under the age of fifteen to play.
Australia's rating system FTW!!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

It's MA 15+, actually. And -15's can play... they just can't buy. I totally don't get that, it's the same with knives & alcohol: you can buy blades when you're 16, but you can't purchase alcohol or tobacco until you're 18. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

Thanks for the correction... -sweatdrop-

And I guess sober assassinations and rampages are better than drunken, hallucinating ones? Ugh, I really don't know... We ought to get some people with common sense into parliment...

The U.S. has similar laws but for firearms. You can own a long-gun under the age of 18 (as low as 13 in some states), but can't buy one from a dealer, and you can own a handgun if your 18-20, but can't but one from a dealer until your 21. None of it makes sense to me honestly.

Video games though: I never really got the whole rating system- especially with the internet become so popular, trying to 'shelter' people from things they already have access to only a daily basis seems a bit futile (like violence, 'adult' content, etc.) And, is everyone on here under 18 almost? I feel like a grandpa.

cant beat the British rating system, it's was found it couldn't be up held by law so until they get the new law in place any1 can buy any movie or game they want http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

not that it matters to me as I'm over 18 and could always get served with games anyway
