Hiya fellas !

I wondered if you could throw all your money into a bowl and come to Germany this summer (officially in order to visit the soccer championchips...inofficially the purpose might be somewhat different http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif ).

Well consider this:

poor Bushie wants to join the RAAF as a pilot.
BUT how can he pass the tests without EVER having enjoyed the taste of some real beer - you know that yellowish stuff one only gets here in central Europe...

So have some heart and donate for his little dream http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

BTW: of course we will meet each other..including Pirschy (who might have finally found his valkyrie http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif ) - maybe even the Brighton troll crew members - danjama and megile - show up.

Brems, it´s summer in Aussie land. They´re hybernating. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

BTW, long story but my Valkyrie turned out to be something else. I´ll tell you when we meet. You won´t believe it. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

But I got a much better Valkyrie now. An even longer story. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

What is it about Germans and bowls of money????
I recall my first time in Germany being very confused by always seeing women sitting in public toilets next to bowls of money- expecting me to put some in http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/354.gif
Has this got anything to do with Pirschjaeger's Valkyries?
Has Valhalla become a public lavatory? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

BTW- most of our beer is based on original German recipes anyway. Ever wonder where the Foster brothers came from.....

Yawn, yawn.....
Scratch, scratch.....
Fart, fart.....
(waking up from hibernation)

Hmmmmm.....

Go to Germany? Well, they do make decent beer, I suppose and it'd be great to watch the World Cup.....

Could be a problem for my budget, though.

But I'll be there in spirit, if not in body.

Ha ha ha, the bowls of money thing is not mandatory. These people clean the WC and you are welcome to tip them for their service. In fact, it is even possible they don´t get paid.

In China, it is much more intense. There are guyz in the WC, in uniform, that get paper for you(to dry your hands) and open the slall doors for you. You don´t have to tip.

Worst case I saw was in Beijing. I was in a club. When I went to the urinal the little uniformed WC guy came behind me and started massaging my shoulders! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

When I was leaving I gave him a tip, not for the massage, but as an apology for knocking the wind out of him. I had driven my elbow into his ribcage. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

I doubt he tried to massage the next foreignor who entered. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

Thanks Mate!

Yeah, I'd love to be able to go and enjoy what's there to be enjoyed, not to mention meeting up with some of you blokes and having a blast!

We've bought a few things lately (like furniture) and made some renovations to our house, so we've pretty much hit the bottom of the cash barrel (and the 'plastic' barrel), so to speak.

Then there are family and work commitments I'd have to tear myself away from. Even if I could wangle the leave from work, I suspect there'd be strong protest from my Wife and Son, both of whom would also love a holiday to Europe, so I'd have to bring them along too, or there'd be a domestic declaration of war! (Not that I have any problem with bringing them, but you can see already how the expenses would blow out!)

But, if there was any reasonable way to do it, we'd pack our bags and be on that plane for sure. It's hard to imagine anything we'd enjoy more!

I do buy a lottery ticket every week (hope????)

Far out Bremmsy, I leave you for FIVE minutes and you set up a charity donation for me! Shame http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

But wait, whats this I hear:

poor Bushie wants to join the RAAF as a pilot.
BUT how can he pass the tests without EVER having enjoyed the taste of some real beer - you know that yellowish stuff one only gets here in central Europe...

Mate, trust me, I've tasted the sweet yellowish stuff http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif I may be young but I'm not naive! Love the thought though!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/heart.gif

Tell ya what, why not come down to Perth n visit? You'll get to experience what a REAL summer is like, not your pansy little 25 degree heat waves! As for visiting Germany, nothing would give me more pleasure, however there are 2 major boundaries:

For starters, I'd never get the money http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif
Secondly, I'm starting Year 11, and doing Intro Cal and Geometry and Trig. Therefore, the only way to get into the RAAF would be to do "pass the tests" in the next 2 years, not going off on complete piss-ups in Germany. Wait did I say that out aloud? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Er, you must be meeting a whole different bunch of Kiwi's to the ones I know. Australia contains many, many, many NZ migrants and of all the hundreds I've met, none have ever said that!

A good number of my co-workers are from New Zealand and you know what the jokes and banter can be like when you're at work.

I'm sure I would have heard it.

They take those jokes (almost always to do with either sheep or unemployment) with very good humour, however, and they have plenty of their own about us. (None of the ones I've heard involve sheep, but I did mention one of thier favourites on another thread).

Our Trans-Tasman cousins are OK and we really like each other deep down, sharing many common bonds, due to being nations of similar age and migrant heritage.
