What I've done with my X52, is let XP/IL2 detect it, no profiling, nothing. Then start with all settings at 100%, then adjustments with trial and error, until you're happy.
Usually Roll and Rudder, you can leave all at 100%. Pitch is the one to play with.

With Pitch, a lot of people have a slow increasing value (L->R) to suite their particular needs. These values will change as your confidence and skills grow... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Joystick sensitivity is really a personal preference, so It's hard to tell you exactly that one setup will work for you.

For the numbers, the lower the number, the less sensitive the input as at that point. So, if you have the default setup in IL-2, starting with 20 and ending in 100, then as you move the stick farther away from center position it get's more sensitive.

JoyControl gives you more options, like setting values over 100, or adjusting the values so they have more of a curve. Also, if you have rotary knobs, sliders or other axis that are assigned values, like trim and such, you can adjust the sensitivity of those as well.

I have a Saitek X52, and I set my pitch and roll to 100 for all values, my twist rudder is set between 20 and 100 with a curve. This seems to work best since the X52 doesn't have much tension, but is really precise.

On the other hand, I have a Logitech stick that works best with the values set between 20 and 100 with a curve for Pitch, Roll, and Rudder, with a slight dead zone for the rudder. This is due to the stick having way more tension and being less precise thanks to years of abuse.

So, play around with it. It's very easy to make a change and save it, and it you don't like it just try something different, or go back into the game and hit the default button and start again.

I hope that helps.
