Have any of you guys played this game?

http://ve3dmedia.ign.com/images/03/18/31891_normal.jpg

It's a Parkour/first person shooter style game, that has obvious reminders of Assassin's Creed, where the main character hops around and climbs and jumps all over the place, except with amazing speed and flow of the game.

The perspective is entirely new, where it's not from above and behind, like in Assassin's. You see exactly what the character sees, with astounding precision of movement, unlike a "bobbing" gun.

And the colors! Wow!

Assassin's is artful, but Mirror's Edge is striking and contemporary. See the difference...

Nothing will truly beat Assassin's, for a game like this, but it'll keep ME busy, until they come out with Assassin's 2! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Pretty cool, huh? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

And what's peculiar about the main character, is that her name is "Faith".

And she "leaps" around and off of buildings...
Get it? Leap of Faith... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

hi there, yea mirrors edge is rather cool, however its kinda hard to compare to ac because of the main difference in objective, mirrors edge's is essential get to point a from point b as fast as u can, while assassins creed is more about strategically killing to redeem urself or something along the lines.

But they are both good games, i have both i know, both fun, good stories that will lead into sequels , but just to let everyone who thought assassin's story was short then well mirrors edge is shorter however that is just the story there are addictive timetrials and speedruns and delecious trophies/achievements.

i really thought i was going to like mirrors edge, but i regret buying it. it sucks. the graphics are nice in an Ultraviolet kind of way. the cut scenes were so gay. the first person parkour is a cool concept but it gets frustrating.

I downloaded Mirror's Edge on Steam, and I really have been enjoying the game. It can be frustrating at times, and the combat is a little messed up. It's not for everyone, but if you enjoy platform games, go check it out.

There's a lot of talk about the next one and making it full roam, instead of set paths.

I think it's beautiful, but yeah... It could be better. Like Assassin's... It could be better.

I downloaded the demo (PS3) for Mirror's Edge, and it's not really for me. Sure, it's cool and very inventive, but I prefer 3rd-person platforming to first-person.

First person controls are made for PCs and the perspective is best sitting close to the screen.
For platformers, its so much easier in 3rd Person, where you can see where you're feet are.

But Mirror's Edge does have features that AC could learn from, such as environmental puzzles (You too PoP) and a great sense of control and height.

assassins creed is the game that mirror's edge NEEDED to be, the freerunning in AC is much better done. i understand EA trying to innovate by doing the whole First-Person freerunning thing, but IMHO, the platforming was sloppy, and i enjoyed AC more.

if mirrors edge had more freedom and ability to jump in random places it would of been better at the free running as in AC it is totaly unrealistic how far you can jump from a standing start.

its not entirely unrealistic just very hard. i know a guy who can jump 10 feet from standing position. he can nearly double it when running.... that bastard.

Steal them, and you will have The Power.

... speaking of shoes, and Mirror's Edge... Faith's shoes make me drool. I want them so badly.

Both games are similar in a way yet very different in terms of settings. As for which I liked better, Mirrors Edge felt less repetitive but AC initially was more fun..

Some interesting comparisons here guys, always interested to hear constructive thoughts on stuff like this.

For what it's worth, I personally played and enjoyed both for different reasons.

Hmm;

I have played (and completed) both Assassin's Creed and Mirrors Edge. TBH, I'm not sure which I like better. They are both great games with diffrent conceps and great ideas.

But Mirrors Edge could have been longer...

FWIW,

I bought the game after reading this thread.
I do not think i can compare ME with AC.
And i definately do not like First Person games, i realy need to be a puppeteer, and have oversight in any situation..
I can not get used to only 'see' things happen to me, without being able to be my alter ego.. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

But the game does not look bad, i agree to that.

Yeah, I'm the same way. Perspective and understanding of the surroundings make it look like a film that you're controlling. The first person view is similar to wearing a helmet with blinders on the sides, creating a narrow field of vision.

But compared to most FP Shooter perspective games, Mirror's Edge shows more of a peripheral aspect. I think.

Driving games are fun for about a few seconds of driving from the inside view of the car... But to race along streets at around 200 MPH, you've GOT TO have a wider vision, to see what's around the corner, if you're not familiar with the course or environment.

Mirrors edge lacks story.
However the control of the character is more mannualy made so that is a great + for a great platforming.

Indeed.
What i do not understand is why they did not make the choice, as in many games, for the first or third person.
In many games they can easily be switched ingame.
