Memphis Belle B-17F 41-24485
324BS, 91BG 8th AF
The first B-17 to complete 25 missions in the 91BG. During its service, it accounted for 8 enemy planes shot down, 5 probables and damage to 12 others. The Memphis Belle and her crew returned to the US for a Savings Bond and morale tour to show that the war was starting to turn. Currently under restoration plans are sadly currently in hand to move her from her Memphis Home where she has resided since her return. Those Americans amongst you may wish to help stop this happening by voicing your opinion to stop it happening, please go to the site http://www.memphisbelle.com/ and register your objection. I hope my skin helps this from happening.
This Aircraft speaks for itself, The Memphis Belle has been painted on the new B17 F that comes with Pacific Fighters. I have as I normally do on my skins tried to give her a realistic weathered appearance and I hope you all approve of my finished skin. This skin was originally done as a request by someone for a screenshot competition on www.screenshotart.com (http://www.screenshotart.com) after which i decided to release the skin for the benefit of the whole community.

Enjoy

Great looking skin - couldn't get to the download page (probably too busy with other people downloading it) but will try again later.

Also took a look at the web site and sent an e-mail to Bill Frist to encourage him to fight the USAF on this one. Hope it helps - hate to see this plane leave Memphis.

Thanks for the post.

I'm going to back the USAF on this one, mainly because I LIVE near the USAF museum and this one will be right at home next to all the other goodies such as a B-36, B-29 (Bockscar) and A-20.

I also live near the USAF museum (recently renamed the Musuem of the Air Force). My understanding is the Belle has deteriorated a great deal and needs a major restoration. I don't know if you have the facilities to do that in Memphis. If you do, then you should keep her, if not, she should come to this museum to save her for future generations.

The museum near Dayton is a world-class facility that can do the job and keep the Belle in great shape for decades to come.

Anyway, the last I heard she may not come here after all. I guess the politicians are probably fighting it out to see if she stays in Memphis or is sent to Dayton.

They used to keep the Bell on Mud Island, under a tarp, right near the river. No wonder she's almost rotted away. I vote she stays in a museum, not on some river mud bank like she was.
