anyone in here finding more of your time taken up by the best console driving game ever? Pacific Fighters has been collecting dust for the past 2 days

been playing the game so far driving a souped up Dodge Hemi pickup.

No, but when GTR (for PC) arrives in the states I'm gonna be all over that. Full 6DOF support for TIR3. Been driving the demo with my TIR2 waiting for my TIR3 Pro, which is scheduled to arrive tomorrow. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

We've gotta wait another week and a half before it's released here in Blighty. I have to say after visiting Chicago and driving a Dodge Ram pick up truck with that lovely Hemi engine, it's definitely a must have for me in GT4.

GT:4 is going to be the best racing sim out.

Pacfic Fighters will have to wait a few days...

I'm not sure whether I'm going to transfer over the 100k credits I'm allowed from a GT3 save yet.
I also started to make an initial "to buy" list and gave up after using the whole sheet of paper. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

yes it does

one of the coolest aspects is that now it has actual tuner cars from the past 3 decades. Nice. it also has muscle cars, trucks, a slew of new tracks and driving modes, and a new feature where you can buy used cars. I couldn't find a used impreza in my price range for my first car, so i bought a 91 Prelude with 44k on the odometer. runs great and can't beat the price!

Jeez guys, it's a piece o' garbage console port! If the default view is third person, you know the game heritage. Ever since Papyrus quit the business there had not been a decent title published since Nascar 2003. Heck, the physics engine in "Grand Prix Legends" has still not been equaled in driving sims, and that sim was published in 98! In fact, EA just published their new Nascar arcade a thon. Don't use the term 'sim' when talking about GT4, it's a game boys, not a sim <ggg.>

Shakthamac
02-27-2005, 02:23 PM
its still the best driving game i have ever played, and that includes Nascar 4 and 2002.

Badsight.
02-27-2005, 02:30 PM
if thats the case then GT4 must be a Complete change from the rubbish that is GT3 (very very nice graphics for its day)

because Nascar 2002 has an incredible physics engine that allows for some of the realistic racing handeling ever (& yes its bettered by GPL , but GPL is gagging for a remake)

i cant wait for GTR to make it downunder

not expecting anything but mediocracy from Sonys GT range (well apart from fantasticly awesome graphics for a 200 Mhz machine)

Hello all.As a previous GT series junkie I almost resent it being called a game! With all the tuning options etc it could very very addictive!! As for immersion,go race the 2 hour endurance(Rome if I remember),win it on Full Difficulty,no pauses and see how you feel!!
Undoubtadly the game had its flaws,no visible damage etc,but hey,it can give you one hell of a thrill!!
I would also stick my neck out here and say it is/was far more user friendly than this great sim we have here!! I did used to take forever to set my Camber,Ride hight however.Anyone whos
taken the downhill chicane at ????? knows what an amazing sensation you got/get from it!!!Whats that circuit called again??

might give me a resone to dust off the old ps2. though i have been offended by the way the mustang was depected as well as pretty much all other US and some brit and german cars in the games before. yea thats right the first GTA4 whine on a flight sim forum now belongs to I.

I don't know when the game is coming out in the U.S., but I've heard March. People ask again and again on the GTR forums, but they won't say diddly that I've been able to find. The demo includes 1 track (Spa) and 2 cars (lister Storm and a Morgan. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif) GT4 looks nice, but I would never call any of the ps2 GT games a sim. GTR is a sim, and in a whole different league. The demo is here:

Respectfully I think you are wrong. I have the German version of GTR and I have to say I can't really see GT4 bettering it in terms of physics. GT4 does have a better selection of cars(no Porshe's or Ferrari's though as in GTR) tracks etc, I suppose it all depends on your definition of the best. GTR does have FIA endorsement, and drives awsome, cars are very detailed as are circuits. It is to driving sims what IL2 is to flight sims.

You dont get what i mean.

Gran Turismo 4 is the best racing sim because:

650 cars (Including RUF (which are Porsches))
New York , Nubring , Le Mans (?)
Classic Cars http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

And So what if GTR has FIA endorsment.

The creator of GT4 has a Skyline with 1,100bhphttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

NOW that's what a call a fantastic sim!

And yes its a sim because it has perfect handling (they use real cars to get the physics)

So what if there is no damage the aim is not to damage your car.

And did i mention that rallying sections have improved. Also the Grand Canyon Circut with no barriers and Convertibles with no roof!

Thanks for looking

so PF would be better than a pefect F16 simulator because it has over 250 planes but the perfect F16 simulator only has 1

hahahahahah

GT1 was ok for its time

but they are **** games mainly , especially in the handeling

as in ****

their tuning "options" are a joke when you study how much the effect the handeling , only 3 you really need to alter , GT are cool games

not sims

It makes me wonder why they dont make this online and for PC also, I mean sony makes pcs also which alot of people pay 3000+ dollars on.

I dont own a playstation or any console system but know people who do and have played the gt series which is one of the best car sims made.

Im suprised they did not add damage models yet into the gran turismo series.

Hopefully the sony brainiacs will release a large scale multiplayer version for pc.

Theres so many that like consoles and then pc users who think consoles suck.

Games always look crisper on pcs and run better then consoles very outdated speeds.

how expence is the old volvo estate. ive order it of amazon. can a i some eyecandy as im a gt nut. one resone why it wuppes gtr is that its a ps2 there no pain in the butt tring to insale the game. then tr3 dosen't work then you need to wait for a patch for it to work.

im ranting gt4 shold rock and it looks better than gtr

i agree. the ability to actually damage your car in GT would be really nice.

I really wish they would release it for the PC, but i can see why they don't. More direct sales to the company when people have to have a ps2 to play it.

one really annoying thing i noticed while playing

now when playing the rally events, you incur a 5 second penalty when you either hit a car or the wall. Some of the rally events have you going down very narrow city streets so its a bit different to get used to.

On the plus side, there are a lot more rally events, which is nice

The fact of the matter is that Sony will make a profit on the console version, and perhaps lose profit if a port for the PC was dev'ed. Why risk it? Besides, it would have to compete with GTR as far as sales, and it'd get slaughtered (on PC). GTR has too much going for it - active cockpit views, TIR support, and last but not least, painstakingly detailed damage modeling & physics. What good's about 650 different cars w/o c-pits or the ability to damage out in a race? No contest, GTR is a driving simulator; GT4 is merely a driving game. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
