Oleg:

Would an option for setting no "city objects" online (in other words, texture only) help the online coop warping we've seen? I think there are many online campaigns that would significantly improve their warping issues if this was an option. That is, unless you reply that it really wouldnt help that much at all.

Im just trying to help figure out some quicker temporary or long term aids to help online coops. Especially into the 'next sim'. I think we all love the city objects offline ; but online in detailed campaigns, I think many of us can opt for them to be turned off and only Manually Placed objects (100s of objects for example) to take their place.

What do you think?

I wouldnt think that we would need to go so far as "flattening forrests"... but... that might be a graphic performance booster for those of us wanting the visual accuity without the objects grinding lower end machines to a halt (or effecting the amount of data being passed in online coop matches).

Id hope that some of these HOST options would help considerably in all online campaigns.

Several simulations, including Battle Of Britain (cant recall a couple others) Flanker perhaps? included seperate settings for city objects and 'raised forests'. I think the best overall effect would be personal settings for offline and online; but also forced settings by HOSTS to make all users not use them. Again, in specific campaigns that would rather use manually placed "targets" / a.k.a. objects only.

I was playing with the FB conf file for grafix last night. I found a way to *totally* isolate the terrain grafix settings and aircraft grafix settings, an isolation that is not available in the game settings menu. Amazing difference in performance. I will post about them later.
