want to chek some stuff out with you...

1.wich altitude do you level bomb from? ( I normally did from 3000-4000m alt but just found out that the betty I just started flying was bombing from 8500m.... )

2.and what do you use to get the data to put in the sight? (I use bombsight table 2 and think its a great tool)

3.Do you often fly with other human pilots on HL and what do you think about it? hook up with some friends as escort as well or?

4. are you dedicated level bomber or do you switch to JABO work as well?

Just a few thoughts, wanted to know how the rest of the bomber pilots is out here in the forum...

1. My He-111 bombs at either 3500-7500 meters, OR it's down there on the deck at 50 meters or below

The very same goes for my A-20, G4M1, or B-25.

2. I use the speedbar, the gauges, etc... to input with the gunsight.

3. Not many people on HL are bomber pilots. In order to do that, you need a coop.

4. I do both, but I'm also doing some fighter pilot work.

Noticed anything weird with the bettys sight? and what do you mean with using the gauges? they are showing only Inicated Air Speed and the sight needs Thrue Air speed, how do you figure out that?

But I want the bomber pilots to gather upp and start fly together at HL! shurely will boost the precence of bomber pilots and maybe making "normal" pilots want to try bomber as well, oh well just a thought...

I also use bombsight table 2 to get TAS. And I often fly online with my squadmates and in the online war Forgotten Skies.

Generally, due to my low end PC I can only accurately bomb from 3,000-4,000m as I don't see the target until too late from a higher altitude. I would love to be able to bomb from 6,000m+ but I'd need a major PC upgrade before I could do that and have a hope of hitting anything!

And yes, I do a lot of Jabo stuff, and I fly the IL-2 a lot usually alone on DF servers, or soemtimes with squad mates.

theres various tables u can get to help u, i put in the height, and adust the speed (on hte site) so it stays on target

havent level bombed in 4.01, but in 3.x it tracked really badly and incorectly http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

Well, Bombing can be great fun however, I prefer to fly alone and maybe take a detour to the enemy base and avoid the direct and obvious route wich is infested with the enemies fighters http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

1. Level bombing, I think the minimum altitude for that is about 2000m. I would like to go to 4000m. Above that altitude, you cannot see groundtargets clear enough anymore.

2. What I use for data is the speedbar only. I try to obtain the targets elevation before I jump into a bomber. I might open the map in the FMB if I fly an offline mission or, I try to sneak in with a fighter online first so I can guess the target's elevation while flying low over the ground. But then again, would 50 or 100 meters really matter if you want to bomb from 4000m? I adjust the speed in the sight so the crosshairs remain stationary on the target. The rocker switches on the X52 joystick are ideal for that.

3. kinda answered that in the first few words of my post.

4. I do all kinds of stuff. I usually explore the map a bit for groundtargets and probe the fighter defence in a fast fighter. Then I land back at base (or get shot down) and I return with the same fighter, trying to sneak a bomb onto the enemy base. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif After that, I will pick a level bomber if it is available. But, when I feel like it, I fly with the bomber right away.

p.s. My next challenge is to bomb moving ships from about 4000m. Try it, it will take some while before you get the hang of that.

bombed ships going in a straight line, but not from left to right, that would be very hard!

That's cool Pingu, I am trying to work out a method so I can always hit a moving ship when coming in from behind it's six.

But anyways, bombing ships wich are going from left to right is indeed much harder. The same basics are applied with aerial gunnery, applying lead and so...

Well, happy bombing http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I have that as well in 4.01 BUT only in the betty, cant sort that out why...

and ship bombings is indeed hard, specialy movinb ones... from behind its ok, all you have to do is figure out how much further away you need to aim but from the side is tuff work...

But thx for your replies btw.

Me, I have started to bomb from 7000m now, it is real hard to do it but its really safe there

Before i bombed at 3000m and still think its perfect alt to bomb on, but the fighters rules the skies there, but with som preperation you can bomb from 6-7000m alt as well.

Along with RAF_Redlance I run a Bomber Squadron (The Wrecking Bombardiers) within the RAF662CFSG.
We fly in open games on HL each Monday, only we are having a summer break right now. Should start up again on the 15th. Aug.

Guests are welcome.

To your question Chainsaw.

1. Mainly 8000ft but depends on mission target, map, time of day & etc.

2. Usually we fly the B-25 and use the gauges in the aircraft. But I use the bombsight table 2 on other planes.

3. Always with other human pilots, the missions are made in dogfight mode so people can come and go as they like. If there are many enemies we also have people flying as escorts.

4. Absolutely dedicated level bomber, but also train in dive, skib, torpedo bombing and rockets attack.

Cheers

1.b-25: 9000m for hight altitude...but i do low altitude bombing most time 250-300m ( more effective, funny and challenging )

2.B-25 instruments and a bombsight table

3.I alway use bombers or do ground attack, but never had escort.

Level bombing is nice ( after hours of practice i reached a really god level of precision ) but for me fast ground attack in b-25 a-20 or beaufighter are the best.
