View Full Version : Forum Titles

Some of you may have noticed your custom user title has vanished, and if it hasn't yet will do in time. Ubisoft recently took the decision to amend the rules regarding forum user titles. As a result of feedback it was concluded that the lack of consistency meant some members in particular newer ones could not differentiate between Ubisoft employees, admin, moderators and normal members therein causing a lot of confusion.

For this reason the rules have been amended and members may no longer have their own title, while staff either voluntary or employed may only have a title which clearly states their job role.

I realise this isn't an entirely favourable decision and must stress it is under trial so it's still possible this could be changed/ amended in the future.

But for now they must go and I thank you in advance for your understanding.

That was to be expected since loooong time.Since ubi took our scripts it was just another step. Why don`t you rename us all into UbiForumUser1,UbiForumUser2 etc. and it will all be settled.

I don`t like when someone gives and takes.I understand that I`m in your virtual house but I don`t have to actually love the household chief, do I?

1C rulez,
Ubi drools.

There.

I am disappointed in this decision. I thought this was a poor decision when first brought up as did many other mods.
Are the titles VIP going to be removed as well?

Thats to bad,
Oleg Maddox has the tittle of VIP as do retired mods and other people who have contributed so much to this community.
Sad to hear that UBI could care less about the contribution or hard work of those people. We would not want to appear elitist now would we.
http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif
Seems that the title VIP under a name is just to much to give in appreciation for service to the community.
It is clear that UBI did not think this policy all the way out.

this illustrates a disturbing lack of imagination on the part of Ubi...if they need to ID admin, managers, and mods...

uh....

give them titles of "admin", "manager", and "moderator"...in purty colors

I mean, I almost broke a sweat thinking of that solution, but they are like, paid to be smart or something...

I propose to letting just generic appraisal posts to be chosen among a limited variety, as well as standard avatars. People expressing themselves and distinguishable personalities cause a lot of confusion.

Now, that's a pitty.

And I honestly doubt this will help.

IMHO those people who cannot read the lines above 99,9% of UBIs forums, clearly listing the responsible moderators for each board, won't be helped if the subtitels are removed.

And for the old boys (and girls) keeping the forums alive helping and supporting the new folks, this is sort of taking away a more or less earned title. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

You're kidding right? Explain how an English speaking forum receiving new rules from a UK Forum Manager is commie. Plus the fact that UBI is headquartered in France (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ubisoft). What of Russians and left over communists? You really think commies are controlling an entertainment forum about a PC game?

I gotta be misunderstanding you.

You are.

Bias. Doesn't mean that they are controlling it, but the larger part of the user group here, and in Europe, LEANS in that direction (socialists - socialism is communism-lite), but we've always seen a CCCP bias here when it was Ost Front only, and even after it still lingers, and now the managment is pushing in that direction as well.

I don't care where you are, making everyone the same is communism comrade.

You're joking, right? This is a flight sim named for a Russian attack plane made by a Russian, of course it would focus on Russia. Use some common sense, DDT.

Anyways, I was joking when I said that the commie bias (Which just seems ridiculous) on these forums was because Oleg is Russian. I don't see why you have to turn every remark people make into an anti-communist statement.

BlitzPig_DDT
11-13-2007, 06:51 PM
I don't see why you people have to turn everything into a full on argument. But, ya's do.

Furthermore, the titular aircraft was supposed to be the ONLY aicraft flyable in the game. That didn't make it past alpha testing. It became an Ost Front air war simulation, regardless of what it was called.

Are you suggesting that the people that this userbase consists of are so dull as to be swayed by a mere title? That it would actually impact their preferences? Now who "must be joking"?

I have to laugh though. I didn't make the commie statement, I just echoed it. You guys must really love me. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/inlove.gif

Yes!!!
There were way too many titles on this forum.
Look at the date when I first registered here.
Do I deserve a title?
No.
Am I worthy of a title if I have a high post count?
No.
Does it make me look cool or special if I have one?
Maybe.
NOT!
It was confusing to new community members to see all those bogus titles.
Only mods and game development people should have a forum title.
After all, they are special.
In a short bus kind of way. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Maybe you're on to the real reason to get rid of non-official titles. Perhaps some members have filed complaints of having unwanted titles. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

That was the risk of the UBIzoo. Usually a title seemed to be given based on one's actions, whether intelligent or ******ed.

I hadn't realized that some of those titles were added without and against some member's wishes and /or consent. I got mine by request and I liked it.

Wouldn't it have been easier and more "community friendly" just to remove the unwanted titles? Really, it wouldn't have required much imagination to do so.

Unless of course the excuse that some members couldn't differentiate between "Forum moderator" and "Destination Valhalla" is the main reason.

Then I'd expect a patch for that excuse in about two weeks. The beta sucks.

Well, I was here for the full run - with one break for a lost password/re-register snafu - and I finally said something droll enough for someone to paraphrase it and paste it under my name. Two weeks later and it's gone, like an English summer. What does it all mean?

I have to admit though, I always wanted "One-armed bandit" instead of "Vere is Buck-ing-ham Pal-ace?" - but, as the song says, "who are you gonna call?"

The country that has stood shoulder-to-shoulder with you through the Iraq and Afghanistan affairs is nominally socialist, did you know that? Voted in by a larger majority than your own administration managed, this term or the previous one. Despite pressure from those who see ill people, or the homeless, or the unemployed as a source of profit we manage to have a universally free health-care system, have a commitment to house people and a system of benefits to keep out-of-work people above the the breadline, or the soup kitchen.

Considering that the flag you flaunt represents a defunct confederation whose economic wellbeing was dependent on the importation and exploitation of Negro slaves, surely you'd do better to avoid arguments concerning the relative merits of politico-economic ideologies?

Moonbats respect Lenin too, just as neo-nazies respect Hitler - that REALLY doesn't mean a damn thing.

But I realize you don't know what I'm talking about. You're not alone. Most people are sadly mistaken - because they aren't told the truth and never bother to look for themselves. But that's ok if you leave it at that. But lambasting someone over your ("you" in general, not specific) ignorance is another matter altogether.

Things are not always what you were told, or what they seem.

So, to that end being that we can no longer have individual text/forum titles, and in that I've read individuals rumps are as individual as finger prints.....What say we all cast off our old avatars and as "policy" all are required to post butt pics in their place?

Could this be my new custom user title if the custom is ever restored? Please, please?
Even more apt than one-armed bandit, I bow before the author's omniscience - he is absolutely, er, right.

So, to that end being that we can no longer have individual text/forum titles, and in that I've read individuals rumps are as individual as finger prints.....What say we all cast off our old avatars and as "policy" all are required to post butt pics in their place?

Think we may need a pole.... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

Butts and poles aside, I'll settle for a number.

Apparently, when I thought this forum wasn't communist before, I didn't see what was coming.

The widespread lock of threads that used to be considered standard fare here is proof. Communism with it's censorship is upon us.

Time to check out, I guess. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

Don't say politically correct, that implies that some things might be incorrect.

This is seven months late for April Fools.

Damn, what the hell happened here? Did a disgruntled employee get access to moderator privileges and go on a locking spree?

Nah. The person that started this thread has nothing to do with any locked topics this evening.

What is going on?

I don't understand why some threads are being locked, even if the Ubi rules were strictly enforced.

If this is a sign of things to come, I'm sure this forum will shrink fairly quickly.

The typical behavior, in this situation, of forum members, in any forum, has always been a mass migration.

Is this a ploy to get us to migrate to the yellow forum?

I really do not think so m8. Of course I do not know the mind of the mod that did the locking, or the reasons behind it. If I were a bettin' man, I would say there is a bit frustration built up in having to deal with so many OT BS threads. And the reason I mention those types of threads is because it seems like those are the types of threads that were locked.

There was also the thread regarding the bouncing Me163, for example.

I hope it's like you said and just a frustrated mod blowing of steam.

this sucks bigtime, hadn't noticed it before this abtch of locked topics. so the tags are going to accommodate people who can't tell the diff between "moderator" and some custom subnick that a long standing member of the community has? not to metion the lack of recognition for people who have done a lot for the sim, like hotspace and his FMB skillz, as one that comes to mind. what next - no sigs? no avatars? numbered usernames as suggested?

and "thanks in advance for understanding"... that's the kind of thing management says in meetings where they announce that your section will be made redundant, and will be training their replacements in India.

Nah, just joking. Open the thread, and, gimme my title. I didn't spend six years studying in the sexpert college just to be called a 'mister'.

There must have been a full moon recently...the forums went nuts in reverse. First someone locked a couple of threads and then the forum public went crazy. Normally the forum public goes crazy first and then the lockages start happening.
