I like the little ninja guys on the Japanese fishing boats, and the cargo holds full of fish..

I did just notice though that the F6F-6 has 4 .50cals, but when you fire, you get 4 guns, and 6 gun ports a'blazing.. no biggie, but hadn't noticed that b4.

Actually has six guns. Two are way back and hidden. The reason the guns are staggered that way is cos of the size of their breaches.

Actually, I think they were staggered like that because room was needed for ammo storage while the weapons were laid side by side in the wing. That way the ammo storage was overlapped instead of being laid end-to-end. The latter would have resulted in the guns being very widely spaced apart in the wing.

But there are covers on the inboard guns... something is odd there...

Do you mean the barrels?

As mentioned, they were staggered to allow for more efficient stowage of the ammo (they could lay next to each other rather than overlapping).

Where were the pictures of the Hellcat taken?

Cheers,

Google image search. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

The top one was from a model-building article here (http://www.wright-wing.com/f6fhellcatwip/). Outstanding detail on that one! He states that the reference pictures he used were taken of an F6F-3 at the National Museum of Naval Aviation.

Don't get me wrong, its no big deal, but the gun ports are covered over. I have LOTS of screen shots of it. Probably just to simplify the model.

sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words, both the 3 and the 6! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Simplify? more likely cause it was never finished!

on high quality skins there's no gun port missing. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Will it melt?

Yes, but just before it melts, something else happens.

But the Mossie will only show you its "feature" and slow/landing speeds in the rain. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Another cool thing not everyone might have noticed - check out the B6N2 in a quick mission - come up on his six low, and watch the cool animation of a belly turret popping out to take a few potshots at you...
