View Full Version : For all Kaptains writing Patrol Reports

07-09-2005, 11:01 AM
May I ask a favor? That you all do all your reports in one thread. That way we can keep track of them easier. They are very interesting and a great read, it'll make it easier for all of us to read them http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Keep your Report saved in your IE or Mozilla Favories so you can find it easier if it slips to another page.

Thanks mates.

If they're all going to be in one thread, why not just make it sticky?

07-09-2005, 11:32 AM
Why not a blog instead?

Or simply, why not a separate SH3 subforum here, just for these stories.

Great idea TAL... I'll ask for one if you all ask too. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

good idea

07-10-2005, 01:58 AM
Sounds like a good idea.
It could be titled " Captains Tales " or " Ripping Yarns ".

With the amount of wide and varied topics that sprout up in these forums its actualy a wonder why we havent got more of them catorgarised as it is !

07-10-2005, 08:41 AM
Sounds great for forum titles Red. See if UBiRazz can make it so. You 2 will have to tranfer the "Tall Tales" to them tho as I can't.

07-10-2005, 09:20 AM
I propose that the new subforum could be called "Fish Stories."

Not that it will make a difference, the stories will be a delight under any name.

07-10-2005, 10:56 AM
You guys should join the Wolves at War campaign for SH3. Everyone roleplays a Uboat Commander, goes on a campaign mission about one every 2 weeks, and generates a patrol report.

Basically it works exactly the same as Pacific Thunder.

If you are not so much interested in roleplaying, and still play SH2, I suggest the Atlantik campaign.

07-10-2005, 09:38 PM
I see Runyan's is called "U-99 Log"
To make sure that the logs or reports match up with the skippers and since there might be more than one U-99,
We should have the name be "U-99 Log /Runyan" or something of that nature.

07-11-2005, 10:27 AM
Where can we find more information about Wolves At War ? Any websites ?
Remembers me of the v8th concept with B-17 2.

07-12-2005, 05:17 PM
Great idea all...

This is the No. 1 feature i wish SH3 had.. the ability to create a running log while on patrol. Preferably in the pencil font that messages are sent and recieved in.... or pen handwriting or printing font style....

Would add greatly to the immersion feel of the sim...

07-12-2005, 06:42 PM
So how do we get this started?

07-12-2005, 08:35 PM
We wait for a forum Kris. I believe UBiRazz has to set one up for everyone. Hang in there mate. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

If you start your own thread for your report, your name will already be there.

We used to do the same with SP missions flown in v8thOps at bombs-away.net with B17 Flying Fortress "The Mighty 8th". Flew 2 missions a week for over a year, posted mission results and posted screenshots of interest... especially the target we hit. Did that for 2 consecutive campaigns totalling 2 1/2 years. Just waiting for the new B17 to come out next year to start all over with MP.

07-18-2005, 09:14 AM
Red and I can't set up a new forum for Patrol Reports. TASKFORCE or UBiRazz will have to do that for us. Send them a PM and ask nicely. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

07-22-2005, 05:47 AM
Is this the thread we are going to use for U-boat logs?
This will be fine.
Are we going to clear out all of this other stuff and make room for it?
I can start posting mine here pretty quick.
Shall we write "runyan99" and ask him to move his logs over here?

07-23-2005, 05:37 PM
Also the whole log from one crew should be in one single post that is edited/updated by the captain, otherwise it would be disorder with the log parts mixing up.

07-24-2005, 01:03 PM
KRIS, yeah go ahead and start with patrol reports here if you wish.

What Maj_Solo said would be the good way to go. Each Kaptain keep a separate post and add too it by editing after each is completed. It will remain a Stickey here until we get another forum set up.

07-24-2005, 09:23 PM
Putting multiple careers in one thread seems silly. I don't see the need. It seems there are enough threads to go around for everyone. I like having my own thread. If that means that somebody loses track of where my career is, well, I won't lose any sleep.

I'll continue to post as before, unless and until a seperate forum is created. It seems there are enough threads to go around for everyone.

07-24-2005, 10:03 PM
but you see EVERY one can not get a sticky thread, so they will float around depending on how they are updated and they will also be in the face of all other forum visitors everytime they float up to the front page.

So, if we get ONE sticky and we swim around in there, then other forum regulars who are not interested in what we are doing knows that "that is that thread" and can avoid it.

I think everyone in one thread is a descreete way that does not take up forum space.

If we get our own forum for this then ofcourse everyone in his own thread is the absolute best solution cause then those that have been out sailing and is updating and are active will float up on the page.

Think we should be careful if we do this in the gerneral forum ....

07-25-2005, 12:02 AM
Much ado about nothing.

Maybe the Community Creatives forum would be a more appropriate place to do logs. If we're worried about clogging up the General Forum (which isn't currently the case) perhaps new logs should move over there.

U-Boat War

This mod covers a course of "submarine war" in the period of the WWII from 1939 till May 1945. For a basis has been taken mod "World 5.0". Such historical episodes are added:

- Operation against Norway from April, 13 - till June, 10. 1940. The most important and bright part the mod U-Boat War . There is no sense to describe all episodes of battle for Norway, so it is a lot of books, memoirs, documentary films describe fighting of allies with German submarines. You need to know only one thing, on April, 13 the English ships come into a fiord to Narvik and sink German destroyers and the ships of intrusion in Narvik.

- Dunkirk Operation "Dynamo" May - June. 1940.

- Battle for Britain the first phase. Luftwaffe actions in La Manche and strikes to England 1940-1941.

- Mediterranean confrontation December 1941 - 1943 Where are included not only sea battles but also Battle for Malta , Fight of Convoys , "Harpoon" (on June, 13-14 1942), "Pedestal" (on August, 11-13 1942), "Torch" (on November, 8 1942), "Vigeres" (on June, 14-16 1942), "Hercules" and less known operations of the countries of the Axis and the Great Britain. A mining of port Alexandria by planes " FW-200 Condor ". Ships guiding by English seamen to the surrounded Tobruk, at night along coast of Africa. I'd like to underline the fact that Italians having the superiority in the linear ships and strategic advantage could not destroy Malta as naval base and to protect the convoys going to Northern Africa. Only genius of German general Rommel for a long time constrained Italians from crash even since 1941.

- Husky on July, 11 1943 landing of allies to Sicily.

- Blockade of Sevastopol Black sea. 1941-1942.

- Fight for Atlantic 1939 - 1945. Are added convoys which were missing in Word 5.0". Mistakes in dates and structures of convoys are corrected. Besides, movements of battleships of both partys have been entered. For example, sinking of aircraft carrier "Couragous" or the statement of German submariners about sinking legendary Ark Royal about three times before its real destruction in Mediterranean sea. Puts out and raids of German breakers of blockade "Penguin", "Atlantis". Operations of ships "Tirpitz", "Admiral Sheer", heavy cruiser "Hipper" and Luftwaffe planes against the allied convoys following from Iceland to Murmansk and back (PQ, QP).
In the autumn 1942 Britain faced an oil "hunger", it was rather critical situation. From the Caribbean area to England OT convoys were formed, with six high-speed tankers in group, surprisingly that the first convoy was intercepted by German submarines and had a huge losses. Further, Germans didn't intercept tankers regulary.
"Gondola" from 6 - till February, 15 1943Ц. Strikes of 480-th airgroup of the American Air Forces on German bases of submarines basing in France. This group made 218 flights to bay of Biscay.

And this is not the full list of the added episodes!

Italian ships:
Light Cruiser
Troop Transport
Passanger Liner
Torpedo Boat

British and German planes involved in campaign:

Countries' ports and traffics.

New images on combat posts panel.

"Milk Cows" Mod. It was made not by me. Very controversial mod. As there aren't submarine-tankers but auxilary ships. U-boat-tankers made by me don't appear in this mod because of the its size. With real "milk cows" the size would grow up to 10mb. So I left it as is in the original.

On a site sukhoi.ru there is a file " http://forum.sukhoi.ru/showthread.php?t=34839 U-Boat War " (type of a file rar). I ask a pardon for my English, it is necessary to translate the electronic translator therefore so crookedly. Come on links and to take. Weight of a file 1.77 Mb

May I make a proposition?

Got myself a Livejournal account which I use for patrol logs (one log per entry). Also downloaded Semagic to my laptop instead of having to log on to the site to write the logs.
So now I have my laptop beside me on the desk while playing, and when I need to update, I open Semagic, press Ctrl + L (brings up the most recent entry), go to the end, and enter a new event. Ctrl + Enter uploads the log.
Genius! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I'll give you the link as soon as I'm done with my first log, because I keep unfinished logs private.

Psychfilm What is your BF2 user name? I read the forums on bf2s all the time. If not here then am there.

03-16-2006, 09:58 AM
I really only posted once on the Battlefield 2 forums under Psychfilm. I found that the action moved a bit fast for me to be able to log with any sort of accuracy what was going on. I thought about maybe filming with fraps and logging later but found out that it dragged the frame rate to far down. My single post can be found here.

Type in Psychfilm under Search Words and it will take you right to it. I must admit I wasn't too happy with the story all and all but who knows people might get a kick out of it. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Isnt a bad idea, I liked the thought of the Logs and everything but didnt think about posting them on here cause I wasnt sure if they would be liked but every time I play the game i keep track of everything in a notebook, so far i started keeping track by date and time on my second patrol but not on my first patrol then the 6 or so patrols i had after my second i didnt keep track of cause it got time consuming to let the game play through in real time as i wrote down something lol But im making the first two patrols public on the journal site listed above.

First patrol is listed on the following link the dates it cover is from September 4, 1939 to September 23, 1939. I will start on the Second patrol which will have the date and exact time then, patrol 3,4,5,6,7, and 8 will be like the first patrol from memory since i didnt keep 100% track of those.

Sock Patrols will be listed here. They are seperate from the Noob Patrols and take up after Noob Patrol 19. Yeah I haven't been sleeping enough lately. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif Hopefully this will make sense and not confuse people.
