Gun camera Bf-110G2 in a turning fight with a B-24. A passing attack actually.

You shouldn't of posted this Waldo.
Now people will start complaining why the B-24 in IL-2 is not able to out-turn a Bf-110. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/halo.gif

Can you upload some more?
I have never seen this one, thanks for posting!

agreed, too far out, too little deflektion and the last few rounds were not even ahead of target but way below...

Because you asked so nicely here is a compilation of three engagements. The victims are a Bf-109, then a FW-190 and lastly another B-24.

The theme or common element is: "Get Closer."

If you like this then next Friday I am posting a couple hours of this material to the newgroup alt.binaries.multimedia.aviation

I guess a B-24 doesn't have to out-turn a 110 when the 110 can't hit anything. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Thanks for posting, Waldo. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

To be fair, that was an incredibly hard target to hit for a WW2 pilot. Roughly 90 degrees deflection! It could even present a challenging target for an average IL-2 chair pilot, with thousands of hours of experience. Big target tho. Thanks for sharing, new to me.

I agree TT, also he probably cannot see the target for his own cockpit.

Probably guesswork in the last few shots.

Remember that the guncam has no cockpit in the way. The pilot does have.

Nice Vid! Thx!

Yet I neither consider the shot badly trained nor am I being astonished about a B-24 performing a single gentle turn.
The b/w capture only fails to come up with the giant flashes and fireballs that Il2 ships with.
Simple as that. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Nice footage.

Thanks,

Great,thanks!
Tell me when you've uploaded the whole material.

BTW something tells me that this B-24 didn't made it:
A-out of this turn.
B-Home.
He commited suicide while braking away from the formation.

Like I mentioned already, it will be up next Friday to the NEWSGROUP a.b.m.a

You need to know how to download from USENET. Here are some hopefully helpful links to get any interested parties started.

FWIW I don't think that the B-24 made it. Solely because it was hit, out of formation and low over Germany.

Regarding the 110's gunnery. Most of the gun camera footage I have seen is like this. Shooting at long range - with as little risk to the attacker as possible. I imagine that they were afraid and nervous and excited. We play a game, they did not. I think it well worth remembering.
