I use the A-9 because of its extra 2 20mm but i dunno if its all that great its been a great plane and after the patch even better but iv noticed almost everyone now flies the D-9 exclusively?

Isnt the A-9 more durable since it uses a radial?

Im just curious on everyones perspective on the 2 planes

Both use a radial engine. The Dora 9 just has a really long one (thus the big nose).

D9 is a high altitude interceptor...very good boom and zoom but I still find the A9 the better one for my dogfighting in a DF server.

Both are now uber killing machines- we LIKE it that way.

How do you keep the damn thing from stalling out everytime you turn?

The D9 uses and inline engine, not a radial.

nope, wrong, the Dora have an inline engine, a Junker Jumo 213...

well, the differences :

A9 is better armed, standard version have four 20mm cannons and two 13mm mg
D9 have only two of each

A9 is more sturdy, thx to its BMW801 radial engine

But, the Dora is faster, with its junkers jumo 213 engine, and it can turn somewhat better, being slightly lighter...

i can understand why people prefer the Dora, even if it is not the best dogfighter of the game, it is better than A9 in this regard...

A9 is good for its firepower, D9 is good for its handling...

I prefer the A9. The A9 accelerates quicker, is better armed and is multirole. The D9 is slightly faster and handles a little better but the A9 is still superior in my oppinion.

At the start of WW2 the German army lacked experienced anti-aircraft gunners. The average gunner was so bad that the USSR decided to help them out. They did it by forcing some of their pilots to fly I-153 flak magnets. These planes were slow but very sturdy. This allowed German anti-aircraft gunners to get a large amount of target practice on a relatively small number of planes. Thanks to the Soviets help, by the end of the war the German anti-aircraft gunners were amoung the best in the world.

Simple, don't turn.

Like MD said, don't turn.

And I love the 190A-9(R-2) with 108's in wings. There is no substitute for 1 shot killing power IMHO. Dora handles a little better and is a little faster but you don't latch onto the enemy with a 190 so I prefer the firepower. I get most of my kills by bounce or distracted/engaged enemies so I want to hit, kill, and keep running.

I used to prefer the A-9, but now the awesome climb ability and relatively *much* better handling (IMO, at least) of the D-9 has made it my definite favorite now; I can climb up to 1 km extremely quickly after take-off, thanks to the engine boost (speaking of '44 version, here...I don't like the '45), and as long as I only dive on targets several hundred meters lower than me, and don't get stuck in a turn fight (which is really hard to not do, now...), it's seldom that someone gets on my 6 long enough to do any real damage. (Playing on a server with 10 or so people in a single dogfight helps, of course). The major drawback is the fewer guns...it takes a good deal longer to get kills in a D-9 than an A-9 insta-kill machine (w/108's).

So basicly it's only a good plane if you only want to fly in one direction, and never change that direction?

Bah not at all...it's a BnZer, not a TnBer, patch or no patch, so unless you want to fight with your plane the entire flight, that's what you've got to do. Just when you make your attack run, if your target decides to pull a turn 1 klick out, just give it up, climb, and try again. Sooner or later you're going to catch them, or someone else, while they're hopelessly looking around trying to find you and at the same time flying in a relatively straight line, you'll zoom down, and tag them right in and/or behind their cockpit. You can turn all you like in them, just don't expect to be shooting down bogeys left and right while doing so.

Saber, you make high speed turns, the 190 is a great turner but only at high speeds. The 190 is a bad 1 vs. 1 plane, I never fight 1 vs. 1 unless it is a P-47 or a plane that is so much slower than mine that I can go vertical. Otherwise I disengage and find help. The 190 uses hit & run tactics that require patience, discipline, and intelligence. The 190 is a hunter and knowing when to strike is key. If you find yourself defensive then use your roll rate, speed, diving ability, and the great split-s and dive away capability of the 190.

i feel when i get kills in a 190 like i earned them and what not since you must be patient stalking you prey as far as a quick jump an A-9 can be better with a quick blast especially with the 108's assuming you hit the target
