This may seem like a selfish thread to post up, but I hope other people who want to make sigs or improve their skills may appreciate and benefit from it also.

I've at last got round to my first attempt at a sig using Photoshop. I welcome comments and suggestions from other Kaleuns on how to improve it, if you'd be so kind.

I decided to base mine on, some would argue, the often overlooked, Kaleun Wolfgang Luth - having just read the book by Vause all about him and he left quite an impression on me - to say nothing of his fateful demise (go read the book!). I would really appreciate if any one can offer me advice about:

- Adding a background colour to it all
- Changing the size of it (It's too tall, tho I doubt BR would agree http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif)
- Anything else you'd do with it really (apart from not use it! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif )
- I'd like to, if it fits, include the fact I'm a 200k club member, but perhaps that would detract from the theme I've decided to use? What do you say?

It's only my first go, so go easy on me! and as I said, I hope others in my position can learn too.

About time you finished your sig - Well done old chap - maybe you could give me some pointers with Photoshop http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif, I take it you used it?

Using Adobe Photoshop 7.0

-You can change the colour of the background simply by giving it its own layer by itself. You would then right click on the "Gradient" tool in the small, detached menu and go to "Paint bucket tool". You then fill the layer with your desired colour.

-You can change the size of the image by click on "Image" in the top menu, then "Image size". By changing either the height of width, photoshop will automatically pick the opposing value to avoid distortion of the image.

-I would add some bevel effects, shadows, and maybe some light to the image. These can be found by double clicking on the desired layer with the image on that layer. A new window should pop up called "Layer Style". Alot of interesting options are in there. You can always take some time too to play with the Filters that photoshop has.

-For the 200k badge, it would not be a bad idea since the person you are portraying has earned it in a way. I would take out the "Second to the silent O in WW2" and place it there.

Hope this helps!

Cheers Goose. I did use it yes of course my friend! but first I put the images together in PowerPoint, grouped them copied them into PS, messed about with the text a bit, but that's where my knowledge and ability levels grind to a halt!

@ Molders - thankyou very much indeed, some good advice there and I'll have a go at what you recommend. You'll see the changes, and you'll let me know what you think I'm sure. Thanks again.

Damn I love this forum sometimes! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/clap.gif

RJ I used Paint Shop Pro for mine and BR's sigs, I am sure its similar to the program you used, It took me a while to learn to layer as Molders said. Looking Good http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Hiya, been tryin to sort this sig thing out for ages. Just can't seem to get it right, I'm well aware of the rules, and really thought i had done it right, but today i go on and they are not there. I do hope i haven't upset the patrol crew with too many pixels! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif or if thats not the case is it something i am doing wrong somewhere. I've been editing and checked it all again, so here goes!!! like why does this happen!!!!!!
