First off I am SOOO pleased for some flyable Italian plans...great work! But one thing I noticed...none of the Italian planes have bomb racks. Why not? Will they be added later?

In all my years of aircraft study I dont think Ive ever seen pictures of Macchi 202/205's with bombs on them,

Just researched my book "Axis Aircraft of WWII".
Nope they didnt have mounts. The 200 didnt ethier.

According to my "Complete Book of Fighters", the "late series" C.202 could carry 2 droptanks or two bombs (C.202 C.B.)

Considering the 200,202,and 205's were interceptor fighters they werent really built for the fighter bomber purpose.I did see mention of the CB variant but it wasnt really a substancial contributor to the war.

Brilliant addition, those Italian planes. So far, they just seem to have lousy FOV's. I'm happy with the new patch.

If I might suggest check out other sources as well.....The Ki-61-1-Ko-Hei actually could never carry bombs especially 250kg. ones. Yet most books claim they did (because they all base off a single book that was incorrect).

So it is "possible", that our new italian planes never did.....Or perhaps they just didn't have time to add them.

The only Macchi fighter equipped with bombs was, from the beginning of 1942, the MC200.
Was equipped with two 50Kg underwing bombs. Regia Aeronautica started to use MC200 as a fighter bomber (as Fiat G50) due it lack of performances as fighter. This was not true for MC202 and Mc205

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif This is why I say "According to my book", instead of, "The C.202 can carry bombs"

My only other Axis reference is my David Mondey book...which I read for fun, not accurate info...if you have access to the book, there's all sorts of goofs...like a caption that reads "Two Luftwaffe crewmen ready an He-111", when there are clearly four blackbirds in the photo! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Facts :

1. HMS Zulu was sunk near Tobruk by Mc200.
2. And the Mc202 acquitted itself well in the ground support role during the Battle of El Alemein.

We need absolutely the C.200 FB flyiable. MC.202 could carry bombs, as the G.55....but we have never used it like bombers. So a C.202 with bomb would be a joke.

Yeah, but only two were actually working. The others were just there for moral support.
