Does anyone know were I can find a conning tower enblem from the U-505? All the emblem downloads I have right now have excluded my favorite U-boat. Its seems like there is a shortage of even pictures of the U-505's emblem on the net so I cant make my own. Thanks for the help.

I found a picture of the conning tower emblew. It's not just of the emblem. It's a painting of the conning tower someone made.

It shows the emblem on the side.

I seem to have lost the painting but I found a picture. You can see the emblem on the side.

Thanks for the help Practorian_Elite. Its too bad no one makes a U-505 emblem for this game so we can invent some new U-505 adventures of our own!

I live in Chicago, been to the U-505 many times. I have also been on the U.S.S.Pampanito in San Francisco.
Never can get over the difference between a Gato class fleet boat and a IXC. The Gato is soooo much roomier! Gotta give it to the Germans....a true fighting machine.. with no creature comforts.

As for the conning tower insignia, It was a sea shell. Can't find an image for it though.....

Thanks mike_espo. I live close to Chicago but want to see the U-505 very soon, especially since it was moved underground and referbished. The U-505 also had another emblem besides the seashell when it was commanded by Axel Loewe, which was a lion holding an axe. When it was captured it was bearing the emblem of its 3rd CO, the famous seashell. Like I said before, its a shame no one has thought to make a U-505 emblem for this game, especially since the boat is so historically significant.

Wow. Did'nt know that the Museum of Sci &Industry was re-doing the U*505 exibit. Too bad its going underground. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/cry.gif Before, you could go on deck and get a panoramic view of the lake!

You could also look through the sights on the 2.5cm AA guns too. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Yeah mike_espo, they moved it 6 stories underground into a concrete bunker that you can go inside of. But never fear, you can still go inside the sub and go on the wintergarten. The good thing is that now that its inside, it wont rust anymore and will hopefully be around for many, many more years to come.
Check out this site mike.

The U-505 will also be surrounded by tons of interactive exibits including a torpedo coming half out of one of the tubes! Cant wait till it opens!

Yes, I do remember a couple of years ago a story in the News where they were moving the boat...I think an inch an hour!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

There is a virtual tour where you can see 360 with the flash attachment or something. Do a google on U-505 and you will find it....

Yes. The U-505 is awesome! Definately can see the differences that German vs American submariners had to live with. The Gato class fleet boat used by the U.S in WW2 is a huge step upward in terms of habitability. Could not believe it. There are alot of museum submarines in the U.S. I want to visit the Soviet Foxtrot on the West Coast soon....

Yeah, the sub is awesome. I live in Chicago but have only been in the sub once. It was when I was pretty small so I didn't appreciate it much. I haven't been in it for years, everytime I would go to the museum, the line would be very long for it.

I loved walking by it on the way to the space part of the museum and just looking at it.

The bunker underground is supposed to help it. It's also supposed to give you a real feel to the size of the sub since you will actually be able to walk right up to the sub and underneath it, even under the propellers.
