Last night I installed AEP, hard to get your hands on in Holland, but at last I found it. Now did a merged install, FB,AEP,PF. And yes, there the BF110 is!!! To my suprise the campaign was more of a fighter bomber campaign. It features a BF110 with a whopping 37 mm Gun Pod. Many of you probably know, but it ROCKS!

I have a special place for this plane in my heart, it has a kind of sleek beauty and allthough I can very well undertand from it's handling that it failed in the BOB (fortunately of course) to escort the bombers and stukas properly, cause it won't stand a chance turning against hurricanes and spits.. They would only last in Boom and Zoom maneuvres IMO, and it is kinda fragile. But equipped with this Gun, It's whoppingly awesome to fly it!
One sortie last night a wounded p39 raced away from my squad towards home, skimming low over the sea. It was more than a kilometre away and I would have much trouble intercepting it, so I decided to have a go. He flew low at my right, myself maybe 200 metres higher, but 1.2 or so km away. 2 or three shots and then WAMMO, the plane just exploded! Gut Geschossen! After this, I used it in a few dogfights. Ever wanted to kill with one shot? Take a 37 mm Gunpod!

Whoa this game is great. I also flew a sortie attacking an airfield. a few il-2 had just landed and parked, pilots still in it. I shot for times with the gun at one, It didn't blew up, pilots ran away from it. I paused to look at the result: I'll tell you, the plane was more metal-colored than green or brown, so much of the plating had been shredded away. It was as if a plane halfway the assembly line was sitting there on the airfield.

This game is the best!

The 110 campaign is the most intense one I've played. You have to be at the absolute top of your game to survive some of the missions you get sent on, and really have to have luck on yourside to make it through dogfights alive.

Bf110's are fun online aswell and survival is increased ,although not guaranteed, if one fly in a group.
It's not a bad plane in special roles, and with clever teamtactics one can take out fighters like u can do with the il-2 doubleseater.

Sadly the bf110 and il-2's usually are not in the center of attention in online maps, and more get the role of filling.
Usually experts only last for a few sorties because of the bad performance but it sure is an interesting challange for the more advanced flyer.

Online it's sometimes used in a kamikaze vulcher-role where the pilots use it to fly to the enemy airfield and shoot as many planes taking off and landing with 30mm gunpods as possible before he himself is shot down.

During the years I've detected an unspoken respect amongst fighterbomberguys wich often (in my opinion) have great stamina and don't give up as easy as fighterjocks, wich are somewhat more restless and desperate characters ( casual interpretation).

I fly the 110 on War Clouds server. It's tehe only crate I fly there. I get kills quite often because of Spit, Hurri and P-51 pilots underestimating the 110. If I were a better marksman I'd have more kills.

Carry the dual Mk108s and the 151/20 gunpod and you will rip aircraft to shreds in seconds.

The most beautiful post I have read today.

Ok, not really. But it still is sexy.

I'm impressed,

I love the 110 but not with the 37mm.

In fact I think I can safely say that I have never ever landed a single hit with the 37mm on the 110.

How sad is that. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

Hehe pretty sad http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

But yes, the 110 is a very underestimated plane. Perhaps I was just my stupidity, but I dogfought a 109 http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif and won actually, best deflection shot in my life http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

If you use the 110 well, you can rack up many kills. Most fighterjocks park their sorry little @rse on your six and plaster away. However, due to the dual fin configuration, like on the A10, there is no songle fin to hinder your bullets, and therefore you can plaster them back. I one instance, 3 fighters say behind me firing, and three times I ripped the pilots to threads. The dual MGs can prove their worth when needed, and if you team up with another or more 110's you will be deadly.

Good luck http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Yeah, the Bf-110 rox http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/784.gif

I visited the Deutsches Technikmuseum Berlin a month ago, and to my surprise they had opened a new wing with some _great_ WWII planes on display http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif They have a Ju-52, a Bf-109 and a Bf-110, plus a Sturmovik nose & a Lancaster wing (among other things) there...

Highly recommended!

PS. Their steam locomotive collection is VERY cool too http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Wish I could, but can't on account of living in Helsinki, Finland. Sorry http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

But it was an experience, I can tell ya! The 110 is actually a lot bigger than what I thought - and one of the coolest-looking warbirds ever too http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

PS. Yeah, gotta get that digicam...

That's true Stackhouse, but this piece of s***te rig of mine just can't handle the strain in v.4.01! All it can take is a couple of planes flying w/ no AA/ground activity at all http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

(Yeah, I know I should buy / build a new computer...)

The 110 is great to fly.. and it's got teeth..
only thing is that i'm kinda deadmeat on the spit vs 109 server or just any other server if i fly it http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

but the 110 campaign is great fun..

The 110 is one of the most underrated planes cause of the wrong use of it, it was simply no escourt fighter, and also not an interceptor when the P51/47 apeard.

The flightperformance was as good as a Beaufighter, anyone would say a bad plane??
British pilots in Africa did a test with a caputured 110, result was that the Beau was faster at sealevel and slower at greater altitudes, but the 110 outturnd it at any alt.

Yes I'm hooked, lost forever, gone over to the dark side, said yes to Vader, checked into the hotel California, drinking pink champane on ice (never got what that song was really about though, but it's cool enough).

It's gone so far that I even ordered The last days, Fall Blau and war over europe. I play 4 or 5 campaigns all through one another.. The BF110 is one, another an Il-2, an Me BF109, a flying Tiger campaign and some.. I'm lost beyond return and loving it. Does anybody know a goood place to buy rudder pedals? Could I also use plain racing pedals?

And that BF110, I'm totally in love with it. The IL-2 has the same guns in the Typ3M, but they're wing mounted, so fire at precise distance or no hit. This center-mounted 37 mm gun is the deadliest weapon I've seen..

I agree. The only real disadvantage of the plane, even when used well (an interceptor, bomber-killer, boom and zoom fighter, fighter-bomber) is that is was rather fragile. It has nowhere the armour you would like to see in a ground attack plane or even the armour you would like when attacking fortified bombers.

But then again, what would happen to the sleek beauty of the plane, not to mention the handling?

That's odd. I don't think I ever had trouble out-turning a 110 in the Beau in this game....but the last time I tried was pre-4.01 and it was against AI. Then again, when I tried to outturning a Beau in a 110 the AI beat me.

Is this still the case or is the Beau too good/110 too poor in this respect?

Norris

Haven't tested it, but when the BF110 has enough speed (lift), it turn very very nice. Haven't tried that without 4.01. The beau turns fine too, but not better, I wager.
