I want to go on a Murdurus Rampage and tak all the planes on 1 on 16 (I'm the 1)

I'c done it before, but I can't decide witch plane to do it in.

I'm thinking the Corsair.

No, I am not normaly this violent, don't know what happened, I guess I'm just a little angry from school, when I almost had to stay after school to do my work, that I didn't do; becuase I was thinking about IL2 and aircraft.

Whats the best plane to do massive dogfighting? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

If its unlimited ammo, I would suggest A6M2-21. But you have to be very good to engage more than one opponent at a time with it and avoid getting shot.

I have an ntrk of me doing this surviving a long time with the A6M2-21. PM me.

For everything else You have limited choice, J2M5,Tempest,F4U-C,FW-190 A-9/D-9,G-10,Spit HF IXE are the other choices. These planes however will need you to have some alt.

IMO J2M5, FW-190D9... these two types could be the best depending on your style. Their performance is awesome.

I have a wide variety of style, sometimes I like to come from out of the sun, pounce from a cloud, epic TnBing, Diving, Floating, Vertical Scissors is my strongest tactic (also my favorite), Inverted Scissors, oppisite turning, <STRIKE>Ctrl-E</STRIKE> energy tactics and more...

Unlimited ammo? J8A or I-153. Flown right, it's almost impossible to take them out with anything other than another biplane.

TinyTim
09-16-2009, 03:10 PM
The answer completely depends on what aircraft type(s) and pilot skill you will fly against, and partially also on what settings you are going to use. Some posters suggested I-153, J8A and early Zero - well, if you are going to fight faster planes than these types, AI will simply fly away from you, at least on higher skill settings.

Tell us the type and skill of your targets, and we might be able to give you some useful suggestions.

Veteran P-40s and Ki-61s.

All my difficulty settings are turned on, except for No cockpit.

Then only an A6M3 would do. if you need some speed use the A6M5C

In this case I'd go for J2M5 as someone already suggested. With it you can outrun, outturn, outdive and outclimb your opponents. If things go messy, you can still drag them to high altitudes where you'll outperform them even more (don't forget to shift the 3-staged supercharger tho). Whatever you do, do NOT pick a plane that's slower than your opposition.

For an utter pwnage pick some jet, or Lerche, or maybe the interesting hybrid piston-jet powered I-250 (MiG-13 prototype).

La-7 with 3xB20's. Even with limited ammo (120 rounds I think) on it's still a killing machine because you just need a tiny squeeze of the trigger to get a kill.

Try the last mission in the Russian campaign in my "The Pirate Menace" campaign set and see how many kills you can get with limited ammo on. There's I think 10 or 12 enemy Spitfires and Tempests. I rack up ridiculous kills in that mission.

This.

With unlimited ammo not only will you decimate everything on the map, you will kill your computer as well.

A killing spree is easy. If you want a "running riot" use the FW190A9 with the MK108 wing cannon option. The 108's on this are internal and won't effect top speed.

BillSwagger

i've done the 1 vs 16 ace in a P-47.

It carries the extra ammo if your good with 50s.
I haven't tried it with any other plane, but my next choice would be the F4U-1c. With its cannons i just don't see much getting in its way, although you'd still have be conservative with your shooting.

Cat's got a point here. It is great to have such a love for this sim at your age, but apply some of that energy to school.

BUT...the local paper ran a story yesterday about a 10 year old with a love for history. Especially WWII. " <span class="ev_code_RED">Colton can name the men who raised the flag at Iwo Jima. He knows that the atoll was important to the Allies because it provided much-needed airfields for the eventual bombardment of Japan. He knows that the Iwo Jima defenders lived in caves and fought to the death on command of their emperor. "I would like to meet a veteran of that war and ask him questions," Colton said. "That would be a way for me to learn."</span>

I can't even do that & I am the biggest WWII nerd I have ever met in person.
Learn a bit of the story behind this whole sim's setting. WWII represents the most rapid period of technological advancement in the history of mankind. Fabric bi-planes to guided missile armed jets.

Back on topic, The XIe clip or the Tempest. The F-4UC just doesn't have the same punch as the Hispano-armed birds.

Or be a man and go the way of BillSwagger. JUG!

Sometimes my 6 year old daughter wants to fly, so every now and then I'll put her in the Fw190-A9 with unlimited ammo and put her against a bunch of easy bombers. With a little aid from me she usually gets all of them. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

The island formerly known in as Iwo Jima is not an atoll.

Not making fun of you or your daughter, it might be kinda fun to see how a 6yo flys.

Same scenario I like to use to unwind sometimes (me flying, no daughter), even got it saved in the QMB. A9 can really light 'em up.

Stealth Owl, I take it you downed at least one 262 with a P.11c? Nice work, I'll have to try that.

Seems the local paper reporter is not smarter than a 4th grader. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/compsmash.gif
Of course, I missed that as well.
Guess I need to post a comment on the story. The kid in the story has been drawing the flag raising & one of the local VFW's plans to hang it on the wall. Start them young so they understand it better as the age. We have a lot of WWII history in the area & local people are finally starting to take notice. The LST helps. Now if we can just get our hands on a Jug...

Where did you get this article? I am certain if my grandfather knew who this was, he would definitely talk to him about that battle.

Choctaw, I found it here: http://www.courierpress.com/ne...to-swap-war-stories/ (http://www.courierpress.com/news/2009/sep/15/fourth-grader-loves-to-swap-war-stories/)

Never mind the kid,I would love to talk to him about the battle.

I had an uncle who was a SEEBEE on Okinawa, but he didn't talk about it. My wife's grandfather was blown out of his destroyer's turret, but NEVER talked about that. He passed a few years ago. I don't even know which ship he was on.
So much is lost every day. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

We "play" war with this sim, but those (you included) who have have been there & done that have such a wealth on detailed information that no book or sim or TV show could ever convey. To hear it from the horse's mouth, so to speak, would be like winning the history lottery for me.
On a side note, I have been discussing the d-bag with the 19 jump claim with my co-workers. We are all anxious to hear how that all shakes out. Please keep us informed.

K84c if you are fixing unlimited ammo

FW D9 for killimanjaro

LA-7 for killionaire

if you really want a spree, use a german jet with the 24 pack of rockets on unlimited ammo . . .

usually when I do the 16 fighter plane ace or veteran, I only get 7, maybe 12 max IF I survive, because they crash / shoot each other or run away.

and if its any US 4 engine bombers on veteran or ace, I can only get one set of four b/c I have to dive on top of them and the rest of fly ooff somewhere to the edge of the map / land
