I would like to shoot down Tom Cruise. If I could just attach rockets to my uncle's cessna. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/784.gif

I am worried that owners with more money than experience will turn the few remaining into $1.XX million lawn darts.

Here it comes - again - as you can see the Tiger in that Saving Private Ryan scene blew up BEFORE the P51 passed over it, meaning, that the P51 did not drop a bomb...which means, that yes...that Tiger was destroyed with the 50 cals... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

The kid at the beginning says that the P-51 is "pretty much known as the best fighter of all time"? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

He better not show his face around these forums http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/compsmash.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/mockface.gif

I'm sure what he -really- means is 'best long range escort fighter in the USAF that wasn't a P-47 or P-38'.

And we all know the P-51 in Saving Private Ryan time traveled back from the 1950s with some rockets.

Or Tom Hanks was just a lucky shot when he shot right thru the drivers vision port, ricocheting off the interior surfaces and clipping a warhead as it was being loaded http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif..What i dont understand is that WW2 aircraft parts are hard to come by, but nowadays you see lots of reproduction parts for old muscle cars being produced, why not do the same for old aircraft from blueprints? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif I say bring back all those old birds for anyone who wants them, without the guns obviously http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

50cals? I just thought that P51 was carrying a maverick, hellfire, or some kind of direct energy weapon. People say the saddest part of the movie is when Tom Hanks died, but I think the saddest part is when the P51 pilot turned out to be the title character from "Carrie"

The only reason that he said that is because rich daddy bought it and lets him ride in the back. I can think of plenty of other aircraft that are more desirable than that. Take the Glacier Girl for instance, that is a priceless one. I have a old muscle car and parts are really cheap for it, some one should start up a company that makes parts for old warbirds. I am supprised that Jack Rouch has not yet.

What can one say, instead of being jealous to someones million$ or frightened that those ***s will crash them, I say: 'Keep 'em Flying'.
Many priceless pieces have crashed these years; you do not need a millionaire to crash them, you need just an unlucky accident.
If someone has the money to 'Keep 'em Flying', just let them. Some of those might end up rottening in the backwoods anyway because of museums' lack of finances.
Of course would be nice to see other AC types 'saved' as well.

I can second that, I think that we were referencing to the remark that the kid made. Sure, if I could get my hands, let alone my finances on a P51, I would would by it. But I can think of some others that I would get first. Its all prefrance if you have the money. Either way, keep them flying.
