Besides, if you look closer, all they have is a Lotus 49. What about Ferrari, Honda, BRM, Brabham, Matra, McLaren?

I think the developers took a bigger bite then they could chew up... and lost the momentum/money/time/interest.

I've been waiting for this Sim since 2000. LITERALLY 2000 AD. (It feels like BC)

I don't think it's EVER coming out. A valiant effort but I just don't see it happening.

Absolutely beautiful. I've not seen anything on this sim before but it looks fantastic. Hope we get to play it one of these days.

Screenshots are really great. Here's the Offical site... http://www.simracingworld.com/frame/?u=http://www.west-racing.com http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

It may happen, the west bros swear it is in progress, but I would not hold my breath.

but GTR is indeed king, and will be in a store near you(hopefully) in march/april. also look out for rFactor, bound to be another great title, as far as I can tell.

The tough thing about liking SIMs....(and I don't mean THE SIMS).... is where do I put a HOTAS for flight sims and a MOMO FF WHEEL with pedals for racing? Life just isn't fair. :P

I have been watching this as well. I did not realise there were as many driving sim nuts on this site as well, pleasent suprise! Looking at the screenshots and reading what they have said I'm still very hopefull. Obviously money plays a big part in it but the detail on those models,, wow, it can only be a labour of love. Which makes me think they wont give up,, hope

Im not impressed by the GTR V2.0 demo http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif
It has some extreme copyright software that causes errors, i have to run it in windoes 2000 compatibilty mode just to get it to work! As when i start it up it minimises and asks for permision to copy a file then quits! Then when i use in in win2k mode i cannot change any of the controller settings because as soon as i click on a button to map it....it maps it to my mouse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-mad.gif

GTR is the King, you can't call any racing that is in the main ovals true racing, (I know its not just ovals)

Art-J

NASCAR Racing 2003 is based on modified GPL engine, with many predesessor's simplifications and bugs improved and worked out, and that means it is serious SIM, which doesn't have to worship fancy modern products like GTR http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/mockface.gif (Although, as a European, I agree, that David Kaemmers' physics engine doesn't shine so brightly when You watch those big cars going round and round and round and round... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif ). I've played GTR demo, and I am very impressed with it, but I'd rather wait with giving a kings crown to anyone until final product is released and well tested. Besides, modern electronics-gadget-toys-on-wheels aren't fun at all, compared to old good mechanics http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif. Isn't it the same reason why we like flying warbirds instead of modern jets?

And for the "Racing Legends" part, I've been waiting for the product for ages as well, but for racing games it seems to be the same thing as "Duke Nukem Forever" for FPS ones. West brothers introduced a very ambitious idea, but they don't quite have the steam to make it. Of course, there's still hope... and GPL http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif That's why I'm going to spend todays evening, blasting through Masta straight behind Eagle T1G wheel http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/icon_twisted.gif

Ive been through VGA, Motherboard drivers....you name it! Ive uninstalled this that and the other! Ive changed settings here and there! Im soooooooooooooooooooooo annoyed with it! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif

OLEG DONT USE STARFORCE COPY PROTECTION FOR BOB!!!!!!

I thought "GACH"...(pronounce like Bach the composer or the actress Catherine)... was a Klingon dish best served cold.

The GTR demo (both versions 1 & 2) run fine on my machine.

The screen shots from the WEST SITE are beautiful. I like the treads on the tires. I'd love to see the effect of the wheels rotating as you accelerate.
The treads getting up yo speed - so to say.

Ah, but thats where your wrong m8. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gifTheir are many, many roadies available for the sim. Lime Rock Park, Road Atlanta, Sebring, Le Mans just to name a few. Their is also a couple of sports car mods out that bring the game to a whole new level, even an open wheel mod! And the best part is its all free. I'll post some screenies of ya want. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Yes, you're absolutely correct! That's the Ring, Clark, Brabham and (propbably) Gurney in Eagle. Image is too small to be certain of who drives that Eagle. It could be Ludovico Scarfiotti. It's definitely not Bruce McLaren or Richie Ginther, they had white or silver helmets.

Art-J
03-06-2005, 03:59 AM
Great pic. It actually shows, Jimmy Clark (Lotus 49), Danny Hulme (Brabham BT-24) & Dan Gurney (Eagle T1G) on one of the first laps before Jimmy's tire and suspension failed. Scarfiotti didn't take part in this race. For complete review and some clips from "Ringmasters of 1967" movie, check here:

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/10.gif "Denny" http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Thanks for the clarification. I couldn't tell if it was Hulme or Brabham- Black Jack had a habit of taking whichever car he liked best, so sometimes Hulme drove Brabham's BT-24 (I actually saw a BT-24 that Brabham drove in '67 listed for sale in the local Auto Shopper magazine about 10 years ago! For a paltry 50K US you could have gotten a car that Sir Jack Brabham drove in F1 competition http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif ) I was pretty sure the Eagle was piloted by Gurney, I think McLaren had started his own team by the time the Ring was run, and I'm pretty sure Ginther had gone home by then, so if it was an Eagle, it would most likely be Gurney.

Those were the days...too bad so many of those greats got killed http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

I have always found it interesting that so many members here are F1 fans, in particular, '60s F1 fans...the best era in racing, in my opinion

At least the screenshot from Racing Legends are works of art. Best I've seen from anywhere of any racing sim.

And Watkins Glen being mentioned....
In 1967 I was lucky enough to be at the Gran Prix with my cousin, and had pit passes too. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif We were wandering around and a voice called out for some help if we didn't mind. Lo and behold it was Mark Donahue. It seems he had no one around to unload his car, so both of us gave him a hand. We got a big thankyou and handshake after from him after, but we weren't smart enough to get a picture and autograph. So much for being 17 years old and dumb. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/cry.gif Too bad he died a few years later in a crash, as he would have one of the greater legends in racing.
