Found this interesting article from the UK MOD News Website (http://www.mod.uk/DefenceInternet/DefenceNews/MilitaryOperations/ArmyTeamDetonateWwiiBombNearMotorway.htm) about the detonation of a WWII bomb near a motorway in Yorkshire, England.

It never ceases to amaze me that WWII still rears it's ugly head 60+ years on.

Why did you bomb yourself ? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif

They've found another bomb in Hannover just before christmas. A few blocks and an entire hospital were evacuated for its defusing.

I believe it was yet another Cookie (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blockbuster_bomb)

Here in teh Netherlands we get this a lot. Mines also, I believe the navy detonated something like 99 mines in 2007. A few years back a few fishermen got killed when the USAAF bomb they dragged up exploded on deck... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Interesting Goose!

It makes me think that if we're still finding WW2 bombs, 60 years on, then what do the battlefields of more recent conflicts hide under the ground?
