Flight Journal - Spitfire Special Edition
Surprising information that Spits were in the hands of Yanks in Africa! I know not earth shattering and I'm sure many of you knew this I just hadn't read or heard about this previously. Also the premiere Recon plane was a Spit! Even the American's used Spitfires for Recon. Not to diminish the role of the F-4 and F-5 (P-38). I know the European mags are more indepth but to get some Spitfire and Seafire info pick this magazine up! http://www.flightjournal.com/fj/store/viewissue.asp?issueid=spit

mossie pilot says ok, then he opens mossie up... p51 leave brown trails trying to keep up...

p1ngu,

My wife's grandfather was the commander of the 802nd Recon Group, which flew the Mosquito PR XVI, from April to June of '44. The Group was renamed the 25th Bomb Group in July at which time they added the distinctive red tails.
