Just in case anyone hasn't heard, but a member over at Subsim has already recieved his SHIV copy.

Here's the original thread.

Clicky (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=107763)

Apparently the game was released last Friday in Sweden, of all places. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

Thanks Rodan. Good post.

We are of course all waiting with baited breath for SH4, and lucky Sweden for getting it first!

Personally, I wouldn't read too much into this chaps initial impressions of SH4. His criticisms don't worry me. We'll all find out for ourselves in due course I'm sure and our opinions may differ from his. Can't deny though that I wish I lived in Sweden right now!

Sounds like one or two little glitches in the game, but nothing too bad. I'm sure a patch will fix the problems.

Ref his 5 torps not blowing up the stricken ship, he may have 100% realism on which means that dud torpedoes are modelled in acurately.

He does sound very impressed with the graphics, and this is still important as you are watching the screen 100% of the time when playing a PC game lol.

But he cant wait to get back to playing the Sim...So its not a bad sign !

I tend not to read too much in initial reviews, unless all the games settings that a player is using are disclosed.

didnt ubi say it was going to be released on the 20th in the us and 22nd in europe as to make it fair for everyone? if they wanted to amke it fair why would Sweden be the first to get it? not trying to rant but it just is odd in my view.

Just a heads up.. bad news.. I think so and am a little pissed.

[ DELETED ] What a shame. Cant wait to get my copy on the 22nd though. Been waiting far too long for this http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

- Wolfen_U232 - I know you meant no harm, but I must remind you and all members that discussion of illegal copies of games/software is strictly prohibited in Ubisoft's forums, whatever your intention is for posting.

UBISOFT !

Consider your Online Store as being a hostage taken by Celeon's secret organisation P*H*A*N*T*O*M* http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/784.gif

At this moment the SFHPCMBL Laser stationed at a secret base on earth's moon , aims directly at your Online Store. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif

Our demands are simple. As Sweden has already recieved its copies of SH-IV prematurely, we want to have it too. NOW.

If you reject P*H*A*N*T*O*M's demand we will incinerate the entire Rue Armand Carrel .......as we dont know which building the Online Store actually is.... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blush.gif

We await your answer ASAP http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-mad.gif

I'm sick and tired of all the political BS that goes on here. Even a Moderators is doing it.

Arklight; .....I'm really sorry you took it that way!

My reply to Celeon was stricktly "tongue-in-cheek"! ..... Celeon and I have enjoyed many such "jibs and jabs" in the past. (As a matter of fact, I was laughing so hard at his post that I kept making typos!)

The World would be a much sadder place If we couldn't laugh at ourselves every now and then:

No problem, Kl. My apologies for jumping the gun.

This place has always been a huge US bashing/political debate forum and it has always irked (irked me so much I pretty much left after over 5 years). I always get a little irritated when I see political stuff posted since I don't think it really has a place here.

Again, my apologies for the gun.

@ klcarroll

Exactly!
We need to keep this forum open for political sarcasm and funny jokes as this truely was!

My remark and Celeon's follow-up link to the "From the 1996 film Independence Day" video link was intended to be a joke, a morbid one perhaps, but still a joke, and if someone can't take that for what it is, then I feel sorry for that person, and I think he/she should just ignore it and move on!

If, on the other hand, black humour one day has no place here anymore, it will be a sad day!

To show that I seriously believe sarcasm and black humour has a place here, I'll hereby pass on two video clips showing a portrait of Denmark (my country), seen by some Americans...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2tVlLWJzYE

Needless to say, I think, this is *cow ploppy, but I did laugh a few times...

No, it's not sarcasm that is irritating. I enjoy humour just as much as most people. But, there was a time period in this forum where most of the political debates were not intended to be funny, rather, they were flat out insulting to people.

My ability to "take it for what it is" has nothing to do with it (I'm one of the most sarcastic people you will ever meet)...some of those here who have been around a while can attest to that. It has everything to do with this forum and how things used to be (some of the conversations used to degrade pretty far). I'm sure Messer. remembers what I am talking about. This forum used to get pretty crazy back then. lol

As I already stated to Kl, I apoloigze to him for jumping the gun.

Celeon would like to make three statements in the name of all of us here at P*H*A*N*T*O*M*

1. We approve of Klcarrol's post regarding the solely humorous nature of the posts

2. @ Goldeneagle8 The SFHPCMBL is NOT a toy.

The best proof for this was the recent unpleasant incident involving my little clone assistent...

http://imagecache2.allposters.com/images/pic/ADVG/390~Mini-Me-Goldmember-Posters.jpg

low moon gravity, a coca-cola can TM,

and the operating keyboard of the SFHPCMBL which lead to a uncontrolled 10 minute long laser discharge...

P*H*A*N*T*O*M would like to take this opportunity to once again say : -We're sorry- to the iranian president about the unpleasant incident regarding the uranium enrichment facility in Natanz, Iran.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/c/cf/Meteor.jpg/800px-Meteor.jpg

We will enact the necessary consequences at once and re-assure that something like this will never happen again.

P*H*A*N*T*O*M* SAYS SORRY !

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/3/36/Puss_in_Boots.jpg

*Note to myself : Remember to send a "No harm meant" fruit basket to Teheran*

And last but least :

3. We herewith strongly reject all rumors that the first two letters of P*H*A*N*T*O*M* have anything to do with Paris Hilton , although we all enjoyed her recent leaked bubble bath home video very much. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/inlove.gif

@Arklight;

Please, ......No apologies are necessary! I am grateful that you brought the issue up! It is very easy to forget that the printed word does not always convey the spirit of the phrase. It is important for me to keep this in mind when I post, as I do represent more than just myself. (...Even when I want to be "just myself".)

I want to assure you that you are "preaching to the choir" on the subject of politics. It's impossible to make it to your middle fifties without developing an active dislike for politicians and their trade.

If I thought for even a moment that Celeon's post was anything but a manifestation of his sense of humor, I certainly would not have responded; .....and I would have made a more serious comment on the issue:

As you pointed out, .....that's part of the job; ...but only one part!

I approach the job of moderator with the attitude that "in a perfect world", the users of a forum would never have to hear from a moderator. We are here to deal with the (very) occasional exceptions to the general rule. As part of my job philosophy, I simply can't bring myself to be pompous and humorless in everything I post. I enjoy the sense of humor possessed by many of the other posters, and I enjoy interacting with them. I feel that this is one of the really positive features of this forum.

As an American, I am very much aware that this is an international forum, with a wide range of "points of view" being represented: .....But as long as laughter is the medium of communication, I think we're moving in the right direction.

There was a recent thread that contained a link to an ad that referred to "The Christmas Truce Football Game". I personally think that this link should be made a "sticky", because it poignantly made the point that it's impossible to hate when you discover that you're just like the other guy, laughing at the same jokes, enjoying the same pleasures, and sharing the same dreams.

Forums like these offer us the opportunity to carry on that tradition is some small way.

Here's to Laughter!!

Having a joke is fine, but lets not let the joke's go too far as they sometimes do.

It best to keep politics off these forums even in OT threads. There are enough such sites on the web to cater for this topic, so lets keep this one refreshingly free from it.

This is after all a forum about a PC game.

It is understood that there may be some element of political disscussion on here in view of the politics of WWII, all the different countries had political agendas that lead to the war, so we cant completelty get away from it.

But when I get PM'd from people as I have had saying they are tired of seeing it here then I have to post up a general responce.

klcarrol, Realjambo and Minoos have as much say on this forum as I do too btw. I see klcarrol has been keeping the peace in here and I hope you dont think I'm stepping on your toes.

I've only recently returned to this forum as I spend more of my time at Subsim because its friendlier and more optomistic. I left this forum because every thread seemed to turn to America bashing or how inept the poster thinks 'Dubya" is and frankly I got sick of it. If I wanted political debate I'd go to a political forum and if I wanted to hear a constant barrage of jokes about the president I'd watch Comedy Central or CNNs "unbiased" reports. So I return in anticipation of SH4 and gee, on the second thread I open here we go on " "take out" "the crazies" in the White House as well?" Hey we get it, you dont like Bush. As a Republican he's not my favorite either but there are several other national leaders who I think are a lot worse. But, I'm not going to say anything about them here because this is not the place. It's just tiresome to see the same old garbage in every in other thread. We get it already, move on.

Oh and just a note:
If you think that the right of free speech is endorsed on these forums, then please think again.
If a mod says no more political posts or no more posts about what colour your car is for example, etc then thats it, no more posts on these topics. end of story.

We keep these forums alive for the enjoyment of all, and 'all' is a big world wide word as there are so many from 'all' parts of the world, and of 'all' ages, and this forum is unversaly classed as 'E' rating..ie from 7 years old and upwards.

Advice: Adhere my note here please, thank you.
