The P39 is badly undermoddeled, it almost has no ammo, and it is slow, takes much time to get it over 500 kmh, and it doesnt turn as quick as yak or la, it sucks, i hope they fix it in next patch, i need more ammo and speed to get those 190 and 109 /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

com'on, the p-39 is not so bad.
however, when it spins, you're screwed up, 'cause there is no turning back.

Well, considering the fact that Q1 should reach 615kmh @ 3500m, and I never touched at least 550kmh, there is something wrong. It's either my flying skill or the plane is undermodelled in the top speed factor. Putting aside the well known stall characteristics and other flaming bs, I would really like to know - way it is so slow? The same with other versions of the same a/c.

And this is based on your experience flying a P-39? Take a bf 109f up against an ace russian in a p-39Q and let me know how it comes out? And emperor, I assume you're refering to a flat spin; a normal spin isn't to tough to get out of.

there P39 prob didnt have much ammoed and took ages to get to 500kph

thats why no one liked the thing in war maybe

Can't really comment on FB, as I don't own that (or a comp capable of running it... /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif ), but I absolutely loved the '39 in IL2. It was an unforgiving, vindictive b!tch of a plane to fly, but I loved it's looks and the cannon.
I never got good at flying the '39, which only makes me love it even more...

*Sigh*; those were the days... /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

You must be flying a different P-39...either that or you just cant fly......./i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif or else you are a fisherman...in which case.....do you want chips with that? /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Your wrong...

The P39 wasnt a very good plane in the first place. Thats why no one wanted to fly it in the war...

well, the 39 was really not that hard to fly in Il2 if you even tryed.

the P39 in IL2 was like the 190, if you mastered it you would be really dangerous cause no one expected you to be able to compete in it.

Not true at all.

Wasn't well liked in other theatre's (lacked in higher altitude flight), but in Russian front it was very good for them down lower.

Again.

In IL2 the p39 had incredibly poor climb and acceleration and turn performance. The stall was easy enough to work around but it was, from all I've been able to gather form vvs accounts - undermodeled in Il2. I flew the 190a5 back then. One major problem was the energy model. Anyway - it is now inferior to la7.la5fn, yak3 and yak9u in what seem to be the right ways, and superior in a couple (e retention, dive accel) I don't know about the roll rate in the n - on etc. but relatively speaking it seems pretty good. A well flown 190 will munch most 39 pilots,as will a well-flown 109.. I guess the high speed handling is undermodelled but it works okay for me anyway.

Oops, not so! The model seems to be closer now, I just ran a quick and dirty speed check, here are the TAS's

Max speeds at 13,000 ' which is very close to the machine's best altitude for max TAS:

Q-10 606 Km or 378 MPH, flt test data is 380MPH at 7570#'s.
N1 592 Km or 370MPH, less than 1 % off.

At SL

Q-10 520 Km or 318 MPH, very close to Flt test data, 2 MPH slow...........

N1 506 Km or 314 MPH; close

My technique may account for the variances, as I took five minutes.

Pitch rate is the major varaince now accounting to NACA data.

If you have other verifible information please post it.

I runned a quick speed test..At 3500 m it should go around 530km/h IAS (speed shown on speed bar or on instrument convertet to mph) And if you look at IAS/TAS chart ...true air speed is around 630 km/h...It seems OK to me.
