Opening the cowling on the La7 provides NO extra engine cooling. The result is just more drag.

I haven't tested the other La5's, but it wouldn't surprise me if they still had the same bug to.

Is this going to be fixed? /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

I don't know, Ian.
But when I open the radiator, my PC doesn't get any cooler. How crappy is that? /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Great flying with you today, btw.

Ian this is the test i did:

With radiator closed at sea level on 110% power, the overheat message comes on at 2:56min and engine damage starts to occur at 5:00min (that's when the plane starts to lose speed).

With radiator fully open at sea level on 110% power, the overheat message comes on at 2:40min and engine damage starts to occur at 4:47min (again that's when the plane starts to slow down).

So the engine actually overheats slightly more quickly with radiator fully open, than it does with radiator fully closed.

BTW speed with radiator closed 612kmh, speed with radiator fully open 539kmh. Big loss in top speed - no extra cooling.
