I don't understand why the rumors are being spread about the upcoming patch.

I've never said the patch will be out this week. I've never even mentioned such thing to anyone, even in private discussions.

Officially, though, I will say- the patch will be out only when it's ready and tested by Ubi. And that means it will be out no earlier than 2-3weeks later, beginning with next week.

As for myself- I will be absent (from the job?) starting this Saturday and till the 2nd of July. After all these troubles (Luftwhiners?) and the surgery of the past 3 weeks- I need a rest. Because, you know, my head is working poorly (under such loads- my comment), (don't worry, the surgery wasn't on my brain- Oleg's comment) /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I dread these words "out when it's ready." That is the phrase that the guys at 3dRealms keep saying about Duke Nukem Forever, and have been saying that for hte past 5 years...

I shudder when I hear "when it's ready."

actually when quoting someone using "()"'s is part of the quote, editorial comments should use "[]", but I think he was clear enough that the stuff in "()" was editorial.

From what I read into of Olegs post...starting next week means they are finishing up the patch in next couple of days then its off to UBI where they will probably take anywhere from 2 to 3 weeks to check it out/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

Ok but doesnt Maddox games know what they are doing and isntit their game? Why does UBI have to check it out and control distribution of a freaking patch?Like they are gonna be able to tell if it has bugs or not.

Yeah, the overdue patch will be out in about another month! Whoopi, Hurrah, WooHoo!

Why are people acting like this is good news?

End of April, then it was end of May, at least this time we skipped right over June and went to the end of July. Almost half a year later after release we will get the patch. I've only waited 4 months or so after buying the game to play a decent, bug free campaign. So whats another month or two right? /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

Now that I got that out I just wanted to say that I'm sure the patch will be worth it and I do appreciate 1C's hard work. I just think they really should have released an earlier patch fixing some of the more pressing bugs. I hardly ever whine but damn this is getting a little bit long to wait for something that is really needed to make offline playable. I stopped playing until the patch is released; the messed up flight models, damage model bugs, sniper flak, etc. make offline campaigns not much fun at all.

Sorry, just had to get that out. I had to whine sooner or later, and I guess this makes me a patchwhiner.

While this obviously won't shut the whinners up(see above posts), it is nice to hear something from Oleg in reference to timing. The most important part of what Oleg said to me was the fact that it will be out when it is "ready". That is more important than anything to me.

If anything Ubi are too worried about getting things right and delay releases and patches a touch too long IMHO

Folks, you still didnt read what the man said... He did not say it would be released in another month, he said..

It would be released ONLY when it was done, THEN tested by UBI, then another 2-3 weeks afterwords. The key here is; 1. When will it be done? 2. How long will it take UBI to test it?

Therefore, the patch MAY be done tomorrow, or it MAY be done Christmas. At THAT point, you can start adding in the weeks as Oleg has said.

Personally, I want a good finished (Fairly bug free) product, so I dont care how long it takes.

Until then, I will just have to enjoy flying the game as it is (Which is still a great deal of fun!)

Read Oleg's words again so you don't set yourself up for disappointment.

Oleg did NOT say the patch would be out in 3 or 4 weeks.

He distinctly said "no EARLIER than 3 or 4 weeks". As a professional software developer I can translate such a statement... :-)

It means it will take at least 3 or 4 weeks to finish addressing the currently known problems. It doesn't account for anything new to come up. I'd say there is probably a 50/50 chance we'll see a patch around 6 weeks.

Remember, just because he says there is a ZERO percent chance it will be within 2 or 3 weeks starting next week DOES NOT mean a 100% chance it will be the day after that time range.
