Which joystick did you buy?

And as I can see, parents are the same all over. Either U.K. or Albania!

I spent $120 (Singapore dollars) for a MSFF2. Then it broke after a few months of use. The stick no longer got electrical power, even though it was plugged in. After a cumbersome warranty process, which involved two excursions to two different MS tech support offices during office hours (could they make it any harder)?, they gave me a new one (with red buttons!). It's still going well after about 10 months. So, when I heard they have stopped making them, I spent another S$120 on a second one for the day this one goes.

I think the X-45 looks good and the whole set-up was only S$45 dollars more than the Sidewinder, but I refuse to give up force feedback. If only Saitek put FF in the x-45, I'd buy it, even if it does look like a flour sifter http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

And might I suggest, gentlemen, that you move out? Then you can blow money on flight sim stuff without catching Hell from your parents. Just don't get married or it all starts up again.

You're making me feel guilty when I think of my flight sim expenditures and all the charitable work that could have been done:

S$120 * 2 = S$240
S$ 50 (FB)
S$ 99 (MSFS 2002)
S$2490 (computer)

Total: S$2879.00

Cost of locking me in rubber room if I didn't have something to relieve stress > S$2879.

Hmmm, maybe it was a good idea after all....

Oh, it was:

329,00 Euros for the Cougar
69,00 Euros for the Pedals

although I am thinking of getting at least the Hall Sensors as an upgrade for the Cougar (which might be another 150 US$) and maybe the Simped F16 pedals, when I've got the money for them.

Hi all,

I got a MSFF original at 80 about 3 years ago and it's still going strong. Even with the amount of aggro I give it.

The only let down with it is the height of the base (not exactly stream line) but I wouldn't change it for anything.

I spent $300 For cougar +$100 for pedals.

After this Cougar's maintenance has eaten another $300. Really crappy stick as-is-basis.

10 years ago:

CH F16 combat stick (gameport), some 1000 finnish marks (about 166 Euros)
+

CH F-16 Pro Throttle (gameport) some 1000 finnish marks (166 euros)

That makes some 332 Euros.. and they are still working.. now buying joystick has been replaced by buying bear /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

You dont have to give up FFB with the X45 and FB!!!!! I use both sticks and they work very well together. I have a set of profiles for both sticks on my website if you would like to use it. The X45 is a great stick and the fact that FB supports more than one controller flawlessly makes the X45/MSFFB setup a perfect one. Today for under $100 US in some places you can get a FFB/HOTAS set up that is second to none in terms of overall programmability, playability and raw functionality.... You should check it out...

That is agreat stick when you first start playing with it. The problem they all have is that they rely on motors to center the the twist/rudder, and after a while they get loose. I have a friend that has one that did it, I had one that did it, and everyone on this forum that has had one of those sticks for 6 months to a year has complained about the same thing. When mine started to go bad I kept increasing the deadzone in the game until I could no longer take off without crashing. I am now using a Saitek Cyborg force that I paid the same price for ($60.00 US) and the twist handle centers with real springs. I've only had it since April, 1 , but so far, so good. It handles way better than the Logitech did, and for an extra $12.00 I bought an extra year of warranty, equaling 2 years. It has a light on the base, and on the handle that flashes when I fire the guns. Very cool. Oh, yes, I bought it from Circuit City, and they are the ones that sold me the extra warranty time. The forces are awesome, but you have to DL the new drivers from Saitek, or it will not work with FB. The drivers that came with it are outdated.

I know, Bearcat. I've read that several times and taken a look at your discussion of your rig on at your Web site. I'm a envious. :-) Unfortunately, I've recently entered the world of the self-employed (somewhat involuntarily), so I can't pony up for an extra Sidewinder, and X-45, and pedals all at once. Since the Sidewinder is out of production, that was my first priority. I really like the force feedback.

How does the x-45 compare to the CH throttle? Lot cheaper and you get a back-up stick to boot, right? An x-45 is about S$165 (about US$85) here. Are they worth it? I haven't seen any CH throttles for sale here.

How are the forces? How does it compare to the Microsoft FF? Reviews of the Saitek Rumblesticks say they're kind of wimpy. The Cyborg uses real FF, right? Can you feel the plane change as it gets close to stalling?

My daughters got me the MSFF2 about 3 years ago for $89.00 at a Best Buy. For an additional $10 they will replace it at no cost for 4 years (so they say, I have never had to see if they follow through) When they are no longer available , I wonder what they will offer instead?
