Thanks all.

Usually I set my MGs to about 200-250m, and the Mk cannons to 300-350. Cannon trajectories aren't as flat as the small caliber trajectories, especially for the Mk103, which is why I set their convergence a little further than with the MGs. Hope this helps!

Viper,

You shoot at 700m? Do you hit anything?

100m for MGs and cannons.. I get as close as I possibly can without colliding before I open fire. This is for targets that don't know Im there... if they know I'm there, I dont engage..

I use 300m for MG's so I can still use deflection. And with canons I use 150-200m depending on what plane it is and the canon some have a flatter trajectory.

I tend to keep quite a far convergence for Cannons and with guns closer. I often fight Jerry aircraft and they tend to extend and run. My longer range sometimes catches them out when I see them visibly relax. I`ll wait a moment (as if to suggest i`m outta range) fire a good burst and usually bust something. It doesn`t always work, but sometimes I`ve woken up even experienced flyers with that tac.

I have a quetion i was hoping someone could answer. I notice that i feel comfortale pulling the triger when the icon on the bogy shows .30, is that 30m or 300m. Im still a newby and dont know any better.

Right now i have my convergence set to 100.0 for MG and Cannon. I was wondering if this was wrong. If so should I set the convergence to 300m for MG and 300m for cannon. I usualy fly the La7 and the P-47 27 or Yak.

Please help my troubled mind.

Yes.

.30 icon = 0.30km or 300 meters.. so set that convergence for your guns.

However, If you use wing mounted MG, like the P40 or P47, like I do .. I set those at 300 and 500. I use the inner 4 for close and the 500 for those 600 to 700 meter starting headons for a welcoming /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

In between you can do some nasty sheet metal perforations...

" The first time I ever saw a jet, I shot it down ": General Chuck Yeager, USAF, describing his first confrontation with a Me262 - - -
" Aggressiveness was a fundamental to success in air-to-air combat and if you ever caught a fighter pilot in a defensive mood you had him licked before you started shooting ": Captain David McCampbell, USN, leading U.S. Navy ace in W.W.II.

Thanks TBS_TWIGTOTO

I change my convergence from 100 to 300.

To document my convergence settings would take an entire page...lol!

Depends on the plane, guns, type of enemy and what type of attack method I'm planning on using...

Not a simple equation, and I modify it MANY times throughout my daily flights. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I use 150 meters on both cannons and guns, since I usualy don't fire before the enemy fills the entire front windshield..... Unfortunately I used to run right up the a** of the enemy, but I'm getting better at it, now-a-days I just chop of their wing in a desperate measure to avoid them /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

whatever convergence you use rememebr it is vertical as well as horizontal

therefore if you are shooting closer than the convergence aim LOW and if you are shooting from alonger distance than your convergence aim HIGH

So a (very) close convergence range for a Hurricane with .303 would be better? They don't pack much punch so waiting until you're very close with all the bullets hitting tight would seem much better. Ahhhh....

Providing you only shoot close up.

A 100 metre convergence means its pointless to fire at 250 metres as the spread will be far to wide at ranges greater than 200 metres. But pretty nasty from 50 to 150 metres.

Thanks. Going to try it out. Love flying the Hurricane with .303s, but there's barely enough punch to down a medium bomber. I've run dry many times after one kill, the second plane only smoking from damage flies away.

(I ususally ram it. Oops.)
