I always give credit where credit is due.

Last night I had a blast on a server called Classic Carrier Battle: Wildcats vs Zeroes. The settings were perfect (almost full switch) and there was excellent teamwork. The planeset was a good and had an historical feel. It really drove home (for me anyway) the absolute superiority the Hellcat had over the Zero. So what if the Zeke can turn on a dime when you can out climb and out dive it. You have to be on your toes when in the Wildcat but the Hellcat is king!

A lot of the TgD boys (I can't wait for their server) were in there as well as the other usual suspects. Please support this server.

I played on it for a while and thought it was great. I flew a SBD and and dive bombed a carrier from about 14,000 ft. I actually hit it (of course it wasnt enough damage to sink it). I didnt live too long trying egress back to base though.

It was a hoot.

My squadmate and I really enjoyed the session we had last night on this server. We were in Wildcats and had our hands full dealing with attacks on the Allied carriers by He-111s and their escorts. I confess that at one point, I crashed into the sea, and rather than respawning immediately, I took a look around. There close-by was the stern of a larger ship sticking up out of the sea...quite sobering!

Hats off to you Zero pilots last night... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif! We had a couple of great dogfights. Two Zeros got on my mate's six after our (successful http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif) pass at an enemy heavy. My wingie headed north at full throttle on the deck dragging the Zekes with him. I dove on the rear Zeke, flamed him, and then switched to #2, who was busy tatooing my wingie with cannon shell. I removed some paint and perhaps a swatch of metal or two when the Zeke pulled left and up rather hard. I too pulled high but with a bit too much vigor...I stalled http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/1072.gif. Although I recovered alright, the Zeke was on me like a tick on a dog http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif. The next few minutes were intense...I blasted north on the deck myself with that Zeke (who was leaking fuel!) and eventually a friend or two of his dogging me all the way. I had to constantly jink to avoid their fire, but that didn't keep me from a holed fuel tank, holes in the windscreen, and oil impairing my view forward http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif. Eventually, I reached the carrier, whose triple A drove off those pesky Zekes. And to top it off, I successfully trapped my Wildcat! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/mockface.gif

Great flying, Zekes, and I'm really glad the Wildcat is as tough as it's supposed to be...

Yes, I had a good time on this server. Though I'd still prefer no icons even over the short friendlies. But that's just a minor thing. What does bother me about it is that there seems to be a lot of ships firing at nothing. I guess it's supposed to be a surface battle, but it seems sort of random and in all directions. It's fooled me more that once into thinking there were a/c attacking them only to drop down and find out there weren't any.

Dunno. Maybe there is more of an explaination in the breif? Gotta read that thing more carefully.

Anyway, I love the Wildcat. Did pretty well with it. Tried the Zero a few times and I stink in it. But I'm willing to fly 'em on those nights when it's against everybodys religion to fly blue. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif
