Hello,
how can I create a Fade out and a Fade in after a movie or in the middle of a game like closing eyes or something like that?

There is an action for that in the Trigger or TriggerObject class called act_FadeInOut.

act_FadeInOut can be used wherever you want. Create fade action and after this action

FADE_OUT - screen will become dark in two seconds
FADE_IN - screen will become visible after two seconds

Also you'll need to create an action "act_Wait" just before the "act_FadeInOut" to give time to fade the screen So it should look like:

act_FadeInOut
act_Wait (Delay: 2)

Thanks for your answers, but it doesn't want to work the way I want it.
I want to show a little intro movie with an instantsubtitle. Afterwards I want the fade out with a subtitle, and when it fades in, I want another subtitle.
Here is what I have done:

To show the subtitle you need to create actions like that:


act_FadeInOut (FadeOut)
act_Wait (Delay 2)
act_FadeInOut (Enable Subtitle, Continue Mode ON)
act_Wait (Delay about 3-5 sec. to read the text)
act_FadeInOut (Disable Subtitle, Continue Mode ON)
act_Wait (Delay about 1-2 sec. to disappear the text)
act_FadeInOut (Enable Subtitle, Continue Mode ON)

As you can see you need to complete all the actions step by step. You can't create one FadeOut with all the stages. If it won't work I'll create an action chain in selection but not now. I have tons of tasks after the Christmas... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

But if I just remove the movie from the intro and add the text from the intro to the fade in/out, it doesn't work any more http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif .

Can I maybe send you this map again? Because it is difficult to explain. Then I suppose you will see what I mean. I just didn't get the black screen with the subtitle. The game just directly starts without any black screen.
Sorry, but I tried it different ways and I just don't get it work. Maybe it's just a simple mistakte, but I don't find it.

Go to "<map_name>_StartProp.scr", open that file with Notepad and paste "ForceBlackScreenOnLevelStart()" somewhere before "GameCharacter("Ray").

Now on start the screen will be black and you need to Fade IN it http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Hello,
everytime I play my map, it seems as if the delays of the fadein/out textes are doing what they want. They change everytime and are mostly to fast. So I can not read the whole text.
Should I pay attention to bWait, Delay Waits, Show time of the text?! What do I have to set.

It means that you lost control when showing text. Use act_Wait before removing or showing new text.

I have to check it on map. Check once again if there's some wrong, check "Continous" flag. It should be ON.

Can anyone provide a brief explanation of how to display a line of text on a black screen when the game starts and then fade the screen in? I tried following the tips given in the thread but I could not have any text displayed when screen was black. I have inserted this line:
ForceBlackScreenOnLevelStart()
in my mapname_startprop.scr and done what you see on the picture below and that works fine on my maps. Hope that this can help you

Place the extracted files in call of juarez data mapsExtra and put the (fade_out_text.eds) on your map...
