I almost never fly axis now days but last nite I was doing some online pc testing (bloody freezes) and just for the fun of it I grabed a 109F4,I was very impresed with this plane I tried a little B@Z and then some turn fighting against some yaks and even a i16 and I have to say this thing really shines.

For me the controls feel to have a good balance and the guns are nice and accurate but I was wondering how regular axis flyers feel about this plane and how it compares to the other 109 models?

One thing is for sure I will be much more carefull about attacking at least this variant for now on.

The a great number of Luftwaffe aces prefered the F4 and the F2 to nearly all of the later variants (most likely due to the increasingly poor quality of such variants to come out of some German factories). The exception to this are some of the Hungarian models which were actually much better than practically all of the same models simoltaneously being produced in Germany! I love the F4 but my favorite is still the G2. But then again, I'm a huge 109 fan /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I'm still a 109 fan but you've gotta love the Spitfire!

I'm a G2 fan as well. The F4 was my favourite but the G2 just climbs a little faster. If you don't count the Emil series then the F4 is by far the most forgiving and easy to fly Bf 109 in my opinion.

The G2 feels almost the same and has the same armament but it's rear visibility used to put me off plus it has an artificial horizon which helps in times of low visibility, the F4 only has a bank indicator but it's rear view is much better.

So how do they differ handling wise , do you fly them in the same way or do you use differant tactics?

And why do I ask well it's good to know your enemy /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I like the 109 f4 but prefer the 109 g2.The g2 seems better in the climb and feels to me like it stalls less, in the turn the f4 wins hands down.
My favourite skins for the f4 and g2 are both made by CanonUK, which are the Marseille skin for the f4 and the Ludemann 'Black 6' skin for the g2.
