I have sucessfully rammed several fighters, bombers and sturmoviks and lived unscratched. I have done that by flying about 10-20 kmh faster than the other guy and going a bit above the tail or the wing edges. It needs some precise flying but my airplane keeps going without ANY sort of damage, not even engine, whereas he loses the tail or the wing. Has anyone else noticed that? I think it is due to the small difference of speed or coliding with the control surfaces.

youy get that occasionally, but recently ive noticed you can ram or be rammed head on and one of the aircraft can escape unscathed. went head on with a spitfire the other day in an I-16, my I-16 got wasted, yet he carried on flying as if nothing happened, niether of us fired, we deffinately hit and the other pilot is trustworthy which rules out foulplay.
only thing i can think of is it being a lag issue

It is caused by lag. Crash survival depends on the pings of the planes involved and the direction of travel.

some planes are unrealistically tough in collisions

the p11 used to be like a tank

If it's off line; why game the game?

If it's online; and you know about it; why cheat?

This has happened to me offline. I dont currently play online since I am in a university network that does not allow direct linking http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif. To do it I have to control my speed very carefully, just touching those surfaces destroys them but going on through without slowing down results in both of us bursting in flames. Has anyone else done it? If it is reliable, it may spawn a new generation of online cheap nutters http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Can you provide some tracks?

Thnx

Its dms some take a 190 or 109 and fly thru the wing of a b17 b29 b25 condor pe9 or any other bomber.

Line up your prop with the wing and you remain unharmed everytime, if you do this with the p47 p51 it kills the engine everytime.

The ki43 seems to have this on the rear fuselage which p40s explode.

This happens offline so it is not a net issue.

A long time ago this was done to stop the ramming of planes from direct six where the plane attempting to ram would explode. Collisions mdls have always been a bit wacky in this game from day one.

Same with ground collisions a 5kmph collide into someone else wing and both planes explode as if they were doing 650kmh and hit head to head.

I think ramming is just bad sportsmanship.
I am not talking about the heat of battle type of ram. I am talking about the I cant hit a He111 from .010 away so I will just ram him to keep
him from getting where he is going type of ram job. Thats why god invented cannons and machine guns. Learn to use them and you wont have to ram anyone.

Some russian fighters were known for being able to ram another plane multiple times and return to base to fight another day. Not sure if this is true or not but I think I read it somewhere. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

If you've ever seen the "secret weapons" aircraft series on the History Channel there was a plane Germany was developing designed for ramming bombers...I don't think it was ever tested though (this was during the final desperate months of the war).
