I've just recived PF after I had bought IL-2 off the shelves for $10. Thought it was great and had to buy one of the sequal/expansion and decided to get PF first.

Now, being a trueblue aussie, obviously the first campaign I would play would be the RAAF. So I start the mission up, put my plane into autodrive, a few mins later I look at the screen fustrated to see the plane slowly decent and then crash into the ground. Reloaded it again to just check it wasn't something weird with the AI and to no luck, straight into the mountains.

So then I thought, if the AI can't handle my plane, then I'll do it myself, but it soon comes apparent that the missions slightly hard when tanking a wall of flack and Japanese planes everywhere.

Is there a possiable way to skip the mission somehow, or to download a fix (I've already patched to 4.01) to stop this from happening.

On a side note, does anyone know any good Australian campaigns that are downloadable, and I was also curious, what was the standard Australian fighter plane during WII in the pacific. I heard it was one of the Kittyhawks and I'm thinking the P-40M, but im not to sure and I would love it for authencity http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Howdy and welcome to the forum....

I did some looking at airwarfare.com and the PF mission page...no joy for the RAAF.

However, i suggest you download the DCG at http://www.lowengrin.com/content.php?article

its a program which enhances the stock PF campaign experience.

good luck and good hunting for those RAAF missions. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

When you start a new campaign, go in to the custom difficulty settings and turn off the difficulty setting labelled "No Instant Success". You have to do this when you start the campaign, once the first mission is generated you can't change the settings for that campaign.

Having this setting off will allow you to apply mission results and proceed to the next mission in any mission where you're not dead or captured. For the purposes of your situation, simply start the mission, then exit as soon as the mission starts and hit "Apply".

Edit: Grammar

Ok...this might not be EXACTLY what you're looking for, but it's great fun anyway.

Head on over to http://www.airwarfare.com and download HH-Dubbo's 'Castaway' Campaign. You fly as an Aussie Beaufighter pilot that gets lost in a storm and crashlands at a disused airbase somewhere in the South Pacific. Together with your resourceful observer *** mechanic *** Sous Chef Randy, you decide to keep the fight up against the might of the Japanese Navy. But first and foremost, you have to survive!

It's about 30 missions long, and there isn't a wasted mission among 'em http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Also, there's a campaign called 'Turning the Tide' where you fly for the Royal New Zealand Airforce in P-40Ms on Guadalcanal - a good companion to Bird_Brain's 'Cactus Diary', where you fly as a USMC pilot at the opening of the same conflict.

I wouldn't mind putting together some sort of RAAF campaign myself (National Pride, maybe), but unfortunately I think we'll all be Chinese citizens before I finish my first campaign project http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

I beta-tested Castaways for Dubbo. First-rate fun. It's not quite 30 missions long, uhhh, more like 11 missions. It'll spoil ya though, few campaigns are this much fun or unique.

Dubbo is a former Aussie to boot. He's now a Canadian. Nobody's perfect.

Just for interests sake...my Turning the Tide mission is here: http://www.flying-legends.net/php/downloads/listings.ph...e_number=2&cat_id=28 (http://www.flying-legends.net/php/downloads/listings.php?page_number=2&cat_id=28)

Its RNZAF and not RAAF but there you go. I'd like to visit a RAAF campaign...and yeah the P-40E and M I think were well used variants by the RAAF but I'd have to do more investigation.

I have a long tally of campaigns to do so don't count on it anytime soon.

As for RAAF aircraft, the major fighters were the P-40E-N, the Spitfire Mk 5, and to a lesser extent the Spitfire Mk 8, we started getting those in 44. Major bombers were Hudsons, Beaufighters and Bostons.

Yeah Dilpil mate, PF standard campaigns are shockers, your best bet is to use the Full Mission Builder to make your own, you usually just have to load up a map and you get a flash of inspiration http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif its great fun. One of my single missions I always got done was a massive air land battle in Port Moresby. The story was that the Japanese forces pushed the Aussies all the way to the outskirts of Moresby (in RL only got to Ioribaiwa), and were able to get tanks in. They also have control of an airbase.
So basically, you fly a Beaufighter, it's a matter of take off wheels up guns firing all together, great fun http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif And, true to PNG weather, a monsoon is in progress and visibility is down to about 5 metres http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif Unfair for the AI huh lol.

PS Dilpil, where ya from mate?

You can do as Tully says it's probably the best solution. But in case you would like it full real, you can edit the mission within Full Mission Builder to do it what you want. So basically you can take off and land in that specific mission. Then Esc and hit "Apply".

I think that P-40M would be a good choice.

Alright, I'll either skip the mission using the instant mission switch or download some of the ones provided, much thanks guys.

Edit: Unfortunatly I dont have the merged PF+FB+IL-2 install and the campaigns dont work. I'll keep looking though http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Dilpil, JunkoIfurita suggested that you try Castaway campaign (custom made).

That campaign features Beaufighter and Pacific Theatre.

I think Dilpil was referring to said campaigns. It's a pity, but I think both Cast Away and Turning the Tide both make use of a few of the objects only available to a merged install.

I think Cast Away at least shouldn't use MANY objects from merged - you could always open them up in the FMB. When you do that, it'll automatically delete any objects that aren't available in your install. If you look through and the mission remains intact (i.e. the target objects haven't been deleted) then you might be able to get away with it.

Turning the Tide uses the P-40M as the player aircraft - is that even available in PF Standalone?

I think I'm going to have to do a standalone install alongside my merged at some point - no other way to know if your missions are playable by standalone owners.

Well I didn't really know that. In that case there is only small chance that one can find pure stand alone campaign outhere. About P-40M, I don't know but it seems highly unlikely that plane is available in stand alone PF.

I never really give stand alone a go, in spite of the fact that I am playing PF for several months now.
