And was just awesome! This sub is a convoy killer!

I just got info of one ship (heading and speed) and then submerged to 50 meters. From there, I just had to get close to the convoy, get the info of every ship via hidrophones (angle) and sonar (distance) and shoot...

Man! Almost wiped it out! And I was shooting two eels against every ship!

I understand that lacking of wire guided torpedoes or a better sonar station is a major drawback, but now I get a guessestimation of speed from my sonar operator -low, medium, high-, so I don't worry a lot. Hey, any modder wanting to upgrade our sonar station to the real level of WWII?

There is a current SubSim forum XXI thread (http://www.subsim.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=40248) that points out the bugs in the game model that make this sub problematic especially in the latter war years.

There's also a post there that claims that fixing the sub is as easy as editting the Basic.cfg file. Stay tuned!

Thanks! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

This sub is just incredible. Even with the bugs it has, nothing goes near it!

I'm sailing at 94% realism, and have done a couple of patrols with 100% hull integrity. If you're just a little carefull, no one -literally no one- may be able even to know where are you! Until you shoot a eel under his nose, that's it!

This is the fix for the type XXI,that T.A.L maybe on about.

it was originally posted by Cdr Gibs at Subsim.com

Fix these lines in your basic cfg file to this,

Year 1943. --------------------- 1944 -------------------- 1945

supercharger_00=1260 ------- _10=1260 ------- _20=1260

snorkel_00=1262 ------- _10=1262 -------- _20=1262

batteries_00=1269 ------- _10=1269 ------- _20=1269

Aftbatteries_00=1269 ------- _10=1269 ------- -20=1269

Hydrophone_00=1272 -------- _10=1272 -------- -20=1272

Sonar_00=1274 ------- _10=1274 ------- -20=1274

radar_00=1278 -------- _10=1278 -------- _20=1278

Decoy_Launcher_00=1288 ------- _10=1288 ------- _20=1288

Sonar Coatings_00=1304 ------- _10=1304 ------- _20=1304

Radar Coatings_00=1305 ------- _10=1305 ------- _20=1305

I've not tried this myself as yet,so I cannot give you a possible answer to any queries that you may have,but from what Cdr Gibs has had to say about them,is all positive.

The initial first two digits ie...00 is for the year 1943....10=1944.....20=1945

From what I have read this fixes the destroyed radar and sonar,when you initially start a patrol,and maybe some of the other bugs that plague the type XXI.

I think one of the main problems was with the battery recharging time.If my memory serves me right when they reached below 25%,it would take 5 hrs to recharge to 99.99999%,that was in real life,but within the game people complained that it would take longer to do this.This may fix that bug as well,but again I can't comment on it.

As I have already stated,I've not yet tried it,so I can't give a positive statement on it's reliabilty.I will as soon as I get enough renown and if I survive until it is available,within this career.

However Cdr Gibs who originally posted it has had some success with this fix,so atm I'll take his comments on face value and not contradict him.
