View Full Version : Any Chance of a "Real" Update on the Patch from Ubi Soft?

Yes, I've read the threads regarding possible litigation issues, but I've seen nothing come from an official source. And yes, I'm sure that IF there is litigation going on some things cannot be talked about...but that must leave something that can be talked about.

Could someone in an official capacity give us some sort of update on "the patch", please.

When is it expected now and what will it contain that you can announce outside of any possible litigation?

At this stage the closest thing to an official announcement on patch progress is this information (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums?a=tpc&s=400102&f=23110283&m=5521094352) from Oleg Maddox.

I read that post to mean that there will be no more "official" patches and all future add ons and upgrades will come from the third party arena. This is sad, but seems to me Oleg really did not want to do a Pacific sim, but was under contractual obligation from UBI.

Sorry Tully but with all respect it`s not saying anything about the promised patch which is well overdue by now.
I am from the brigade which actually purchased this tile and I do think we need showind a little bit more cosideration! A word from devs. will be nice on this one, here at this forum. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

You read wrong then. He doesn't say anything about not releasing the 3rd CD of content/Patch for PF/merged install or planes like the Mosquito, Tempest, other Beaufighters, Ju88 , Pe2 etc. All it simply says is no planes from certain companies and releasing anything you need to pay for in the west is at the discresion of Ubi soft...so no change there.

It says that anything that is released will until further notice not include models based on aircraft from certain manufacturers. Further information will no doubt be forthcoming when negotiations between the various parties reach some sort of conclusion. In the meantime, getting uptight about it will only give us ulcers.

I wasn't suggesting that post is news, only stating that it is the latest official information that I'm aware of. Since I've not come even remotely close to exploring all the possibilities of the content we already have, I'm not impatient yet for further news.

This is unfortunate and probably my last purchase from Maddox and team. I thoroughly enjoyed IL2/IL2FB.

I bought AEP for the new aircraft it offered and the ability to fly European campaigns...only to find out that if I wanted to fly those campaigns I'd have to buy yet a different addon. $$$$

Then I bought Lock-On and was throughly disappointed. The selection of aircraft is too limited on the NATO side and game play is not that enjoyable.

Now along comes PF. It offers IL2 quality in a Pacific theater sim; that has British battleships in Pearl Harbor, has no flyable carrier based torpedo aircraft in a carrier war theater, is limited in combat zones, was release incomplete (patch due out in two weeks...two weeks...two weeks...two weeks) and doesn't even include the aircraft listed on the box.

And yes, if I pay full price for a product I expect to receive the merchandise I paid for.

I totally concur, I want whatI paid for and still states I would receive on the PF website.
Flyable Betty's my eye !

As bad as CFS2 was you at least got what you paid for.

I agree with this also, If these planes were supposed to be in the retail release of PF then why were'nt they included in the very first PF patch, Let's forget about all the legal talk thats been going around regarding aircraft companies for a second & focus on the planes that we should have gotten when we bought the game, The first patch was released over a month ago & we were told that if all went well then the larger patch would be released the next week with new flyable AC & new AI AC, We're getting the mushroom treatment here

I am(was) a long standing fan of this sim, but after this fiasco, I'm not sure what I'm going to do for my flight simming. Its not the problem at hand that makes me want to give up, its the ABSOLUTE LOCKING OUT OF THE COMMUNITY to any information. I'm not talking about the "legal" matters, I'm talking about leaving us in the dark after a number of promises. All I want to know is wether or not this sim is going to get any more attention from 1c or not(just one dam official response on the home page of the site, not hidden 50 responses deep in some thread somewhere). I dont want third party speculation, I want to hear from 1c wether or not the product I purchased from them is dead in the water or not, thats all, nothing more. We dont expect clients to wait weeks on end for info or promised work at my job, I dont understand why we are supposed to.

I didnt know that the Betty Bomber was owned by Grumman or Lockheed. this would confirm tht WWII was started by the Carlyle group with Preston Bush as the instigator and financier with Arab backing!!! dang rats!

I paid 50 bones for PF. i am new to this so i dont have any other games from the series. however in 4 days i probibily will be getting fb/aep under the ol' xmas tree. maybe i will just take my loss with PF, return fb/aep and wait until The BoB comes out or wait for anyother company to realse a sim. the last thing you want to hear after buying a game is that they are no longer going to acknowledge it, fix it or add to it. since i bought it close to release date not only have there been only tiny updates to main site but the patch for the 'instead of a 3rd cd' is still in beta.
im sure they are overwhelmd with many problems but dont keep the community in the dark because people make assumptions and rumors go around and people end up going http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif.

Lock On and IL2 have different developers.

Don't return your FB/AEP, just install them as a merged set. It's still the best game in town.

The sad thing isn't the quality of the game, which is high, it's the quality of information from UBISOFT and even Oleg, which has been a reluctant drip feed of "next week", "soon", and now "later"........

Give it rest you guys http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif
You show any other developer who ever bothers to respond to the "Community" like Oleg does. Good luck getting any responce out of M$ or anyone else for that matter.

As for not getting what you paid for, what kind of lame **** is that http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif, the only AC missing from PF is the flyable Betty, and Oleg has said that was an error in the packaging and we will be getting it....

This is insane, how van every plastic model company in the world produce evry type of model over and over for years , but you cant make a 3-D computer model? and make it flyable? Tell me where this makes sense. Perhaps the confusion came from oleg telling these companies he wished to make flyable aircraft. they may have though it was new competion on the WWII warbird market, perhaps they felt the penagon would start orderinf f6f's from russia to fight the Japanese!

A plastic model is different from a highly complex 3d model and flight model. Olegs always said if there is sufficient data and the model is good enough he'll put it in. With many WW2 planes the information on there performance (factual as opposed to annecdotal) along with detailed information and photographs is quite rare in some cases.

Lame? Hardly. When I pay full price for a product I expect it to be a finished and have all of it's components. Image that.
