Found this: Spitfire Gunsight (http://home.mchsi.com/~jahuntley/spitfire/spitdetail/spitdetail.html)

It might be of some help.

I also found this excellent read on Revi gunsight use that was translated from a LW manual. They use, um, interesting drawings of women to illustrate a couple of their points, so clicker beware, but I found it to be very informative. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Revi Gunsight Use (http://ww2airfronts.org/Flight%20School/transition/weaponsschool/revishoot.html)

There are some other phenomenal manuals available through that site as well. I highly recommend it.

Hi slickstick

thanks mate-I have seen the german one and the RAF guide and read andy bushs guides at simhq but it was this series of lectures that intregued me

http://ww2airfronts.org/Flight%20School/transition/weap.../natc-2667-44-1.html (http://ww2airfronts.org/Flight%20School/transition/weaponsschool/natc-2667-44/pages/natc-2667-44-1.html)

see the 2/3rd rule for calculating lead using gunsight- if you know the mils http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

OK, I thought the part under "estimating distance" and how the outer ring of the Revi is equal to 1/10 of the target distance and the examples they give, would sort out the mils.

A fighter being approx. 10m in span, would fill the sight equally at 100m. Doesn't that tell you the distances?

Im not great at maths but as I understand it lead is determined by speed and angle off, the german site gives you lead according to angle off but the other site gives you lead according to speed so id like to try to tie all sources together into one simple table for easy estimate of lead- maybe Im overcomplicating things and should just follow german manual but I have used sniper corner and it doesnt tie in for some common situations.

anyway the way I shoot I need all the help I can get-
